My New Christmas Mug

My new mug!

At the Ladies' Luncheon, this was the mug I received. I love it.
I'm a tree person so it's right up my alley.

I really liked the cloth gift bag it came in. The chocolate thins were a plus but I prefer dark chocolate and will put those out when the family comes together next week.

This was the little handout -

I had a really nice time. It's not easy to walk into a Church, where you don't know but a handful of women. Not knowing what to expect. They were all so friendly and inviting. I'm learning how the church ladies from my church could take some lessons from these ladies!

Did I just say that?

I don't attend church to make friends - or be part of the church's social life. But I do expect that as a church, the women are friendly and practice hospitality.  Sadly that is not the case at my church. It's not that they are mean because they are not - they are good people.  They just are not welcoming. They stick within their little groups. That's why I stopped attending the Ladies' Bible study. My quiet nature is a turn-off for most women - makes them feel uneasy or something. I can't be what I am not. Now my husband is totally plugged in. He has an awesome men's group and except the women's group, I enjoy the teaching and we are mission-focused which is important to me. By attending outside bible studies I was able to see, that it isn't ALL me after all. Both outside study groups have welcoming ladies.

Is it any wonder I have always gotten along better with men? That's why God gave me three sons I guess.

I've always wondered why I didn't inherit my mom's gift of gab. She was always the life of a party - funny and everyone gravitated toward her. Who wouldn't want to be like her? My reserved personality is more like my dad's. My sister was like my mom as well. Cheerleader - popular in high school. Mom (a former HS cheerleader) was always trying to get me to fit into her mold of how I should be. You know the old square peg in a round hole.

Anyway, I'm just happy I've been able to see the difference. It’s okay to be a Mary in a Martha world.

Well, it's time for me to go out and sit with my husband and the dog. The cat is here with me.

Until next time -

Debby
