Pretty Christmas Windows

Merry 7th of December!

This could be my Kitchen window but it's not.
I like the simplicity of this window display.

I love all the black-and-white Buffalo checks - I have not yet tired of it.

This is just a window - not necessarily a kitchen window. I have to have a window over my sink or it's a no-go. Anyway, I like this display.
Again, simple elegance.

Another window that is not mine. Simple, not that flashy or gaudy.

Lovely!

Very pretty but I must admit, my kitchen is a working kitchen. The only time it looks this good is when company is coming. It's not like we are slobs or anything, but sometimes some things that should be put away, remain on the counter.

Plus where would I prepare?
Not enough space for me.

Another simple display. I tend to gravitate toward a more simple look. When the kids were little it would be all in red - with Santas and snowmen and gingerbread houses. I also had a daycare in my home, so I decorated always with children in mind.

I remember my neighbors and daycare parents would call my house,
 the Christmas House.

It's not that festive-looking anymore.

Now, instead of Santas and Gingerbread houses, I go for more wintery things that I can bring in from nature. I will be bringing in some cuttings from the incense cedar Tree to place around.

I also prefer white lights to colored lights.
I love the soft glow of a white Christmas light.

I guess we are always changing. I know when I get out those decorations, they don't always go where they went the year before, except for the Nativities - they always go on a certain bookshelf.  And the red paper mache Santa boots my boys made in the first grade (or was it kindergarten?)

For 39 years they have had their special place
on the top of my china cabinet.

Our police department sent out safety tips for Christmas. The usual things, like when you are out shopping, park under a light - don't store packages in sight - the newest tip suggested not to display the Christmas Tree in front of a window with wrapped gifts due to the potential of a home break-in. Fortunately, I have yet to hear of a home break-in, near us. That's not to say it couldn't ever happen.

Laydee - the big bad dog of the neighborhood. Can you tell?

Of course, we will do what we want anyway - we do have an alarm system

plus we have a vicious dog.

I'm confident she would not allow anyone into the house. She is friendly with those she recognizes, anyone else is a threat.

Meanwhile...

The husband blew the leaves; used up all the containers, (garbage comes today), and had to stop. No complaining - that's Fall. Those trees shelter us from the hot summers and they are simply not ready to give up their leaves just because the calendar says we are in the Christmas season.

By the end of December, the leaves should be gone.

The husband brought in the tree and he's putting it together. We pulled the recliner to the side and he won't be able to recline fully till the tree is gone. I hope it doesn't look off-kilter - I also have started sprinkling Christmas decor around -

There are so many pieces I still enjoy.

I don't want a cluttered look - cozy yes but not cluttered.

We're playing both Christmas/Hanukkah music performed by Marty Goetz.

Enjoy!
