Time for Wednesdays Hodgepodge

These are the questions for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Does anybody really know what day it is? Last week we skipped the Hodgepodge and I just assumed this week would find us in December, but nope. Still November. Do you wear a watch? Use a paper calendar or strictly electronic? What's your favorite hour of the day? Why?

Yes, I know the date and the day of the week. For the most part, I am organized enough to know but holidays may throw me off when it comes to the garbage pick-up days. It is always on Friday after a holiday and from the look around the neighborhood, others get thrown off as well.

I don't wear a watch anymore but I used to and I treated it like jewelry. I'm not much on jewelry except for watches and earrings. I used to have watches that matched certain outfits. Not expensive watches. I wouldn't have been able to afford that.

I use a regular old-school calendar but I use my phone as well and I use the reminders along with an alert, to remind me of important appointments and events I don't want to miss.

My favorite time of the day? Hmm, I love the mornings - my dog loves to snuggle with me on the sofa while I have my coffee. But I do like other times of the day -

2. Tell us something about how you celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday.

No biggie - just had my family over for dinner. We had the classic turkey with everything. I loved being with my adult sons. They bring me not only joy but also comic relief. They just are so funny together. Like a stand-up comedy team and they play off each other so well.

3. What's a sound you hate to hear?

If it is summer I don't like to hear low-flying helicopters and airplanes - (they shake the house) as well as the siren of a Fire Truck. Those are the first sounds we hear if a fire is nearby, so we go outside and look up and if it is a Cal Fire helicopter, and we see or smell smoke, then we know.  I check my Flight Radar on my phone along with the Wildfire App. to get information on how close the fire is.

Since the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake I still get a sinking feeling after hearing a car alarm go off. I remember that happening at the time of the earthquake - so many car alarms going off at the same time. I can't hear one without thinking back.

4. Where do you not mind waiting?

I don't work so I don't mind waiting. Cashiers will look down the line of people waiting and apologize - I always let them know I am in no rush. I just stand there in line, smile, and observe people. I no longer plan things, if I have an appointment or such - I give myself enough time so I don't need to stress out. Back in my Younger Days, I didn't, so I was always impatient mainly because of my poor planning.

5. I really wish____________________________________ that I had a wish but I don't. I'm fairly content.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Friday morning, I go in to have a cyst removed from the back of my neck that has been bothering me since I switched to warmer clothing that rubs it. This is the 2nd time - I hope this time they get it all. The procedure is fairly simple - they numb it and start digging. It's like the ultimate zit. Only I don't get to see it. I'm a picker, and I can't tell you how many times, I have tried to take a needle behind my neck to pop it. Well, that was before I found out it was a cyst. But boy was I tempted. I can't stand having bumps and stuff on my skin - but as I get older and from what the dermatologist told me, certain skin conditions come along with age so I better just get used to it.

On second thought, I'll take back that wish - I wish that I had smooth skin like I did in my younger days. I am opposed to surgical procedures and Botox. At some point, you just have to accept that we're not as cute as we used to be.

Now that I have grossed you all out, I'll end this Hodgepodge. Thanks for dropping by.

Regards,

Debby
