The Last Monday in November

Redding Trestle

I woke up a bit earlier this morning. I was excited to get on with the new week. I always like the days that follow a holiday. I just like my regular days and what surprises they bring.

Sacramento River flowing through town

So I did my Monday thing -
stripped the bedsheets and bedspread to wash.

Last night I mentioned to my husband that I wasn't pleased with what I bought for Navy for Christmas -  I will return it. We then decided to go out and buy what I knew he would like.

I feel better now. I overheard him talking the other evening, that he needed these items - so the light bulb went on for me.

Sundial Bridge

After such a cold morning,
it is now 62 and sunny. Nice in the sun but still cold for me in the shade.

I folded some clothes and started straightening my back/craft/room. I took in the Fall decor from the front yard - still not in the mood to decorate for Christmas.

The husband is outside cleaning out the gutters -

Bird in the Tree

I am chomping at the bit to start staining my chairs and china cabinet -
I keep telling myself I need to wait.

That's probably why I am just not in the mood for decking the halls.

Just within the hour, my sister-in-law from Alabama, Edith called.  She is 71.

She has had diabetes for years - and after my Brother passed away, she's been having some larger Health Issues. She's really been having health issues for years - it's just that she was caring for my brother and his mother and just didn't have time to take care of herself so she allowed her health to take a back seat. She has been telling me about her platelets, getting low.

Now they tell her she has full-blown cirrhosis of the liver along with this low blood platelet disorder Thrombocytopenia. Apparently, this explains everything. The two go hand in hand.  The crazy thing is she has not ever taken a drink - her brothers and her father were alcoholics and she said she would never take a drink.  Her platelets are at 40,000 and a normal 71-year-old woman has around 165,000 - 300,000.

I am very concerned. She is taking it well. I asked about a liver transplant but they can't do anything much at this time, due to some internal bleeding. She blows her nose and she bleeds. They do have her on a steroid, which is not good for the liver but they can't do anything until they get those platelets up. She knows the Lord and she is finding comfort in Him.

I have no idea how much time Edith has. Neither does she and she wants to know.

Needless to say, I am now bummed and totally shocked.

Man, you can't take things for granted.

So if you can, keep Edith in your prayers - Thanks for that!

John 14:1–4

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”
