Thanksgiving 2023 is in the books

I do hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I thoroughly enjoyed ours but each year, it does wipe me out for a day or two. Next year it will be at Sara's so that is fine with me. Yesterday was spent putting away the dishes - fortunately, we had very little turkey left and what little that was, I sent most of it home with the kids. I'm just not fond of turkey like I used to be. I enjoy all the sides, so we had enough mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and Sara's green bean salad to munch on.

Oh, and here's a look at the new Boho curtains and my newly stained table. I'm thinking of restoring the chairs to a darker color or just painting them black. I haven't decided yet.

Since everyone (except my husband's daughter) works in the medical field, they all work during the day. It's hard to give up that double time and a half in this economy. They all started to arrive by 4:45 pm. Navy and Sara arrived just before the San Francisco 49ers kick-off.
It was such a sweet time - it always is, when my boys come home. They are so good to me and together they make me laugh...they are so funny.

After dinner, the game, and lively fellowship, we drew each other's names for our annual Secret Santa. Today I ordered my secret gift online and now I am done. It's a light Christmas; seems every year it gets slimmer and slimmer. No one minds and that helps. We just enjoy being together.

It was also Foodie's birthday. He is 43 now. He was really tired and if it hadn't been for the football game, he might have fallen asleep.

Liberty and Guardian

Everyone left pretty much around the same time - way past our normal bedtime, for sure. Then it was just the two of us, happy to be together and grateful for our little family that is still with us. I placed some photos of those family members who are missed and should be at the table with us. It gives us pause when we think about it - we never know when it could be our last holiday together. That's why it is important to make every minute last while you can.

We had a couple of days of strong wind and I thought for sure,
all the leaves would blow away but we still have quite a bit left on the trees.

Navy and Sara added us to their Peacock streaming service. I was kinda excited because Yellowstone was on there and we have never seen it and heard so much good about it. Well, after the first episode, we decided we didn't care for it. Too much foul language and well, you know the rest. I was very disappointed.  It reminded me of the old Dynasty or Dallas back in the 80s. Totally NOT what I thought it was about. I'm not into watching other people's family dysfunction!

Navy and Sara married on Feb 29, 2020 - a leap year. That means in 2024 they will go on a nice trip and they will be going to Antiqua. I am excited for them.

And then there is Christmas Decorating...

I don't plan to stress myself out and pull out all the Christmas decorations. I will get to it when I get to it. Right now I am not "feeling it." I have a few other things I want to do before hauling out the boxes.

This Friday is the city's Christmas Tree lighting. In the 16 years we have been here, we never attended so I am looking forward to that.

Tonight is pizza, thanks to my husband.

And that, dear readers, is the end of the line for this post.

Take Care, Debby
