The early signs of Fall.

Tags: tree table fall

Today I did some touch on the end tables - I started on the coffee Table. I'm running out of space. I had the coffee table out to the side of the house on saw horses and then it started to rain. What luck. I had to wake the husband up from his nap and we both moved it under the patio. It's fine. After dinner, I will move the 2 end tables into the house - place the glass inserts and the end tables will be done.

In between stain to dry, I walked around looking for Fall- 🍂

This is one of the Sweetgums in the front yard.

I'm looking high and low for Fall color. It's just starting...

The weather forecast for the week is showing 80's and 90's. It gets down to the 60's at night - cools off pretty fast.

Incense-cedar is a hearty, drought-tolerant species that grows in a variety of soils in abundance throughout its natural growing range of the inland forests of central and northern California (as Calocedrus decurrens) and in southern Oregon (as Libocedrus decurrens).

Did you know?

For many years this was the pencil industry’s wood of choice was the Californian Incense Cedar Wood however it is a relatively expensive wood so cheap Chinese-manufactured wooden pencils started flooding the U.S. and European countries which forced the established manufacturers to shift their attention to finding cheaper alternatives.

The aroma of a pencil is what my Tree smells like, from time to time.

I do love this tree. It is the main focus of our front yard. I know I mentioned it before, but I'll mention it again - when my parents lived in Shingletown - they had some property and when they bought this house, Dad brought down a few cedar trees to plant.

Another Sweetgum tree

In the backyard, we have this fairly new tree from the city - after years of drought, they gave each household five trees. This is a native California Redbud. It's more like a bush - the really good rainy season we had, really helped all my trees to grow and they all look so healthy.

The rose bush we planted in the spring, seems to thrive in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. It does not like our extreme summer heat.

Our grape vines -

This is for dinner tonight. I've been craving a quiche and it's been a long time since I made one. I'll make a side of bacon strips to go with it.

So tomorrow will be the unveiling of those pesky end tables...I'll take photos and I'm excited to have them back into the living room.

That's it for me on this Monday.
Time to eat...
