In the middle of the night and second thoughts

The ceiling is lighter than the Wall so I don't know why it looks the opposite.

It's 1 a.m. and we're sound asleep. The Smoke Alarm goes off in our bedroom. Scared us half to death. We knew it wasn't a fire - checked anyway. It was so loud. So the husband put in a new battery, which kept going off. Finally, he just disconnected it. The cat jumped on our bed and poor Laydee was trying to take refuge and get into the shower- she was so startled.  Then it took a while to get back to sleep.

Meanwhile, the house is in disarray, which makes me feel overwhelmed. I woke up still tired from the smoke alarm event - and not as enthusiastic as I was yesterday about the task of painting. I don't know why I have to be so practical.

I'm just not feeling it today.

But the husband agreed it was necessary. We bought the paint - ALMOND LATTE So for the first time, I am going with darker walls. I'm excited but also nervous. We have excellent natural lighting, in the living room, so it should be okay. When you paint a new color, then you have to paint the trim and window sills which then makes me second guess myself that I should have just kept the same paint color.

After the walls are painted, then we'll have to paint the trim and around the windows. Tedious work. And then when you paint one room, the hall looks bad, as does the dining area and kitchen.

What was I thinking?

It's 6:33 p.m. We're committed now. Funny how things have changed. I was looking for a way out. He's fully in. I'm now done with all the lower stuff - he's up on the ladder cutting in from the ceiling down. The color looks REALLY DARK. Yeah, I'm a bit concerned.

Maybe it's because I'm not used to it. My neighbor Carrie, next door has her dining room painted a Tuscan Red. It's beautiful.

Maybe I'm just getting old and am stuck on boring white till the day I die. The rest of the rooms are white.

When we do a job like this, I can't eat. I'm just not hungry. I did buy a take-and-bake pizza so we'll be having that in an hour or so. We want this done and the furniture moved in by tomorrow evening.

Will we make it?
