Carpet Stretching and Cleaning

I'm almost embarrassed at how bad this looks after we Moved out the furniture. IT needed to be done.

So, this morning we both decided it was best if we did not go to our Bible Study and instead, focus on getting the furniture moved out, etc. It's good that we did because as we moved things, we dusted and cleaned -

Moved the sofa cushions, throw pillows, and other items out to the patio.
Took down the curtains and washed them.

My mom's old coffee table with matching end tables. The 4 square holes on the top have glass in them and I took them out to move it, so we wouldn't break the glass.  I am thinking of DIYing it soon. Hey, it was free and it's not that big of a deal to me, to get new tables. They are sturdy and it has its purpose. Just needs some TLC...

WHAT A MESS

Together we moved everything out except for the recliner which requires 2 men.
Everything is piled in the dining area - with just enough room to get out the patio door.

Susie thinks it is all for her amusement.

She might also be hoping we don't notice her "scratch job" under the sofa.

Washed the windows on the inside - scrubbed off all that nose art from Laydee.
Soon, we'll wash all the windows from the outside so I can see all the Fall colors when it happens.

We vacuumed the rug and walls - and the baseboard.

"Hey, Hon - we might as well clean the ceiling fan after a summer of collecting dust."

Just after this, the Carpet man came.  It was 11;45 am. It's good we took off from Bible Study or we wouldn't have been able to get all the cleaning done and I don't like a superficial job.

He helped my husband move the recliner.

My husband didn't want to do this initially because it was such a hassle. We even thought we'd do it ourselves using a carpet knee kicker.

Thankfully I went with my gut and found someone who knows what they are doing. He used a bigger big knee kicker/carpet stretcher that stretched across the room - the one we would have used wouldn’t do it a good job.

Wow, it really had stretched. This is almost all of what he cut out. Amounts to about an inch and a half all around the room.

He started cleaning the carpet and worked hard, scrubbing and using all these different machines.  He had all sorts of big machines. I've had my carpets cleaned before, but none of the other carpet places had the cool equipment he had.

He only charged me $140 for everything.

This is how it looked right after - around 2 p.m.

And this is how it looked just now - I am very pleased.

we have the windows open - it's 93 degrees out but he recommended we not move back in, until tomorrow.

So as we were looking at the room, we decided that now would be a good time to paint. It needs it. The husband laughed; he thinks I planned the whole thing. Honest I did not. It's just common sense. He's almost 67 and I am almost 70. Next year we may not be able to move out all of this furniture.

So tomorrow we'll buy some paint. I will probably do most of the painting since I really enjoy it. He usually goes high and I go low. We have vaulted ceilings so the walls are very high. We are not painting the ceiling which is the hardest.

Anyway, I am tired of the same old white walls.

It's been over 10 years since we painted. Maybe longer.

I love clean.

A nice start to the Fall and Winter.
