Falling for another Hodgepodge

This is where Janice over at From This Side of the Pondasks the questions, we answer them, share them with our readers, and then go back to her blog to share everyone on the linky tools list

1. It's officially Fall y'all. In the northern hemisphere anyway. Any signs of it where you are? What's your favorite thing about this time of year?

We had a system come through the weekend - but we're already warming up. At least for the weekend, we played like it was Fall.

2. Have you visited any 'falls' in person? Tell us about one of your favorites?

I live within the "Redding Waterfall Loop"  which sits in the Shasta-Trinity Cascades. There are 13 waterfalls within this loop.

My Favorite is Burney Falls. We go up there at least 4 times a year.

Called "the Eighth Wonder of the World" by President Theodore Roosevelt, the falls are "at their most intense during the spring, from early April through October, when snowmelt is at its peak". The falls were declared a National Natural Landmark in December 1954. In March 2021, a National Geographic article declared the site to be one of "northern California’s most spectacular waterfalls".

To the side of the Falls - These photos were taken about a year ago.

I had forgotten that I still had this video.

Of the following top ten famous falls (according to this site ) which would you most like to see in person-

Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe/Zambia), Igazu Falls (Argentina/Brazil), Niagara Falls (US/Canada), Angel Falls (Venezuela), Yosemite Falls (California), Dettifoss (Iceland) Kaieteur Falls (Guyana), Plitvice Waterfalls (Croatia), Gullfoss-Golden Falls (Iceland), or Sutherland Falls (New Zealand)

I'm sure all those Falls are gorgeous and I have seen photos of them, but I would rather visit the ones we have in our own country - the US is huge and there’s so many waterfalls to see here.

I've already seen Yosemite Falls, Niagara Falls, and many more in other states.  There are some beautiful Falls in Alabama and Scott County, Tennessee in the Big South Fork National Park that stood out in my mind. The Big South Fork was in my Dad’s backyard growing up, long before it became a national recreational area. Also, Twin Falls in Idaho is pretty impressive.

3. What's something you'll miss about summer?

The mornings.

4. A favorite fall recipe?

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds.

5. Something you enjoy but lately have allowed it to 'fall by the wayside'?

Hmm, maybe swimming. I just didn't register for Water Aerobics this year because I would have to get a new swimsuit and quite frankly, buying new bras and a swimsuit is the worst. Probably because you have to try them on - and I really dislike that.

6. Insert your own random thought

Yesterday was Navy’s 39th birthday. He was supposed to drop by here after work but texted me to say he was tired and not feeling well. So I still have his card and gift card here. I always look forward when he drops by so I was bummed but totally understand.

Foodie went back to work last week and he’s doing fine. He has his final orthopedic appointment tomorrow plus X-ray to see how the arm is standing up to the work. I’m sure he’ll be fine. He’s just happy to be back in the swing of life again. He was out of work for a little over 2 months!

The husband is still waiting on an appointment- but it should be soon as the VA called to tell him they were referring him to an outside civilian doctor and they should be calling him in a week. He also has an appointment with an Audiologist and another for his foot.

I’m very grateful for medical care - even the VA even though at times they take so long.

As for me, I’m fine. Saturday is our annual, Day in Alanon and I will be helping set up the food. It will be an all day workshop for our district. I’ve had something going on every day so far - I usually don’t like a busy week but it couldn’t be helped. Oh well.

That's a wrap -

Debby
