A Gentle Monday Rain

Beautiful rainy day.

A pleasant rarity that I will gladly take and enjoy every single droplet of moisture.

 a gentle rain -

I'm scarfing up on this cooler weather because it will soon be hot again.

The tree in the distance is on another property. I look at this tree every morning while drinking my coffee.

It has these really big birds in it and they sit on the top and look at me while I am looking at them. I haven't gotten out the binoculars to see what type of birds they are. I keep meaning to.

This morning they were not there at the tree.

Not much going on. I'm slowly moving back into the office.

This morning an old friend texted me this morning which was a pleasant surprise. We lost touch when I quit Facebook 2 years ago. We are hoping to get together next week.

Last night I talked to my late brother's wife from Alabama. It will be 2 years in Nov since John passed. She is doing better. I guess in her area, the old men who are single are looking for wives. She said you can't even talk to a man less he gets the wrong idea. Frankly, if it were me, I've already had the best - why would I want to mess that up with another man plus, I don't want to take care of another man. That does not sound like a turn-on to me.

To each his own, right?

YUCK!

Last week we had an exterminator come and spray for Turkistan cockroaches. I had found a dead one in our bathroom - and I've never had roaches before so it freaked me out. It was tan colored. So the exterminator guy said that the Turkmenistan Cockroach is all over, California and especially here. He said if I took a walk in the middle of the night I would see them. So he came out and sprayed and looked around our property and said he didn't see any infestations but we were going to use the services for a couple more months to throw off their breeding cycles.  We don't like to spray - we cherish our birds and the bugs that feed them. Our fish not to mention our lizards, and frogs and crickets. He used a formula that would be safe for animals and children. But lethal to the Turkestan cockroach. Fortunately, he says this type doesn't go into the house. They live among leaf debris and wood piles, both of which we have. We think my husband accidently brought it in, on some scrap wood he was using and then Susie finished it off. We haven't seen any more.

Both neighbors on both sides of us, spray so guess where the bugs escape to? Fortunately, we are still seeing our frogs and hearing our crickets so our little habitat hasn't suffered.

That is it for me this Monday mid-morning.
