No, not that kind of humor...

Yesterday we were moving things back to the craft/utility room when we got a phone call - my son had a bicycle accident and fell off his bike on a city street and into a street sign. He swerved to keep from hitting a tweaker who was on drugs and acting irrationally. It could have been worse.

His fracture looked similar to the above photo.

So I took him (Foodie)  to the ER and believe me, you don't want to go to the ER on the 4th of July. He was fortunate to get called quickly - they did the x-ray and he broke his upper Humerus bone. He has a dent on his upper arm - swollen and apparently this morning woke up with some hella, bruising. He feels like he was hit by a Mac Truck. He also has a road rash - which at times hurts more than the arm.

No cast - just a sling and he has to keep it immobilized until he gets in to see an orthopedic surgeon. I just got off the phone with him and it could be next week until he is seen. He lives by himself and refused to come here for at least a couple of days - he is very independent; doesn't like to ask for help.

The hospital is just down the hill from where he works - so we stopped in there with his "doctor's note" to alert them, he will not be coming to work for a while.

The only thing that frustrates me is, that his bookkeeping system is in an old cardboard box - he can't find his Insurance paperwork. He thinks he may have accidentally thrown it out. How does one do that?

Fortunately, his information is on record at the hospital - a few years ago, he burned his hand really bad while camping. So they had his information on record. But he also has gap insurance or something like that, which will pay him because the Doctor said probably 4-6 weeks off work. He has 21 days of sick leave and a month's vacation which he was supposed to leave on next week. A backpacking trip with his brother.

I don't know anything about medical insurance anymore. I have Medicare and Tri-Care for Life from the military. I've not had to pay a dime for my surgeries. I don't know if that will be the case for him - they did hit him with a $400 co-pay that they will bill him later.

He doesn't even know if he has a PPO or an HMO or what? He has Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

I've lost the brain cells to make sense of health insurance anymore.

So he will have to figure it out. Hopefully, he will learn, that he is getting older and needs to have all the stuff where he can find it. It makes for less stress.

So the back room floor is done. Slowly I am moving my stuff back in. Since this is a multi-purpose room (craft, utility, food storage, sewing, etc) it's not Minimalistic at all - I wish but I have to be reasonable. We store things here that we can't store in the garage due to the summer heat. And we don't have AC in our garage like many do.

I am enjoying sitting there, going through things -

That's it for me today. It seems like a Monday. Last Friday seemed like a Saturday, last Saturday seemed like a Sunday - then Monday and Tuesday, it went back to feeling like a Saturday and a Sunday so I am all messed up. I missed my fellowship yesterday because I thought it was a Sunday.

Do you get messed up when there are holidays and 4-day weekends?
