Hodgepodge - to boldly go where no man has gone before!

Hello, fellow Hodgedodgers and Wannabees. You don't have to sit on the sidelines -

You too, can join in on the fun.

It's EASY! -

You copy down the questions that get sent out on Tuesday - From This Side of the Pond - copy the questions onto your blog and answer them on your blog.   Then you come back here on Wednesday after you have published to add your link to the linky party.

Thanks to Janice for her weekly creative and thought-provoking questions.

1. Hello Summer! In the northern hemisphere anyway. What's something on your summer bucket list? Do you have an actual summer bucket list? If not, use your hypothetical list.

We have plans to take the 2-hour dinner cruise on Lake Shasta in August with my son and his wife.

2. What for you is the defining scent of summer?

Coopertone suntan lotion -

3. What's a (music, food, wine, or flower) festival happening in your part of the country that you would like to attend if tickets/travel/timing was no object?

Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee

We already missed it for this year.

"One of the longest-running fairs in California, this four-day event draws participants from towns not only all around the country but also all around the world. Located in the beautiful rolling foothills of California’s Gold Country just outside the quaint Gold Rush town of Angels Camp, the international Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee is disguised as a small town fair harkening back to a simpler era. But don’t let appearances fool ya. The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee blend good ole' fashioned fun with a hearty dollop of world literary history. Held the 3rd weekend in May each year (Thursday through Sunday) the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee commemorates the story that launched Mark Twain’s career."

I used to enjoy the Gilroy Garlic Festival (Gilroy is the Garlic capital of the world) until they had a mass shooting there in 2020. In May 2022, the festival was canceled permanently after 40 years. They just couldn't recover. They now have a golf tournament and other smaller venues. But it's not the same anymore.

Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival is another festival I will not go to anymore. 51 years - I used to live near there and the traffic is not worth it. It's not the quaint festival it used to be - very corporate.

4. Apparently a military whistle-blower claims the US has a UFO retrieval program. What say you? Do you believe aliens are out there?

UFOs have never been my area of expertise. Although I do enjoy science fiction. My favorite is Star Trek.

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before!

5. Besides your wedding day and the birthdays of any children you may have, what are three of your top experiences in life?

1. Helicopter tour of Trinity Alps where we scattered my sons' ashes

2. Finding and Meeting my half-brother and his family for the first time

3. When I divorced my first husband - after court I went into the bathroom. I was by myself and I jumped up and down like a little kid. I was finally FREE.

Of course, it is how each of us defines "top experiences." These just were at the "top" of my mind for this question. I'm sure days from now I will remember other "tops."

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm disgusted with both my sons and that is something you rarely hear me say. It's been a very long time since I have felt these feelings toward them. We all enjoy a good relationship.

They totally dissed my husband (their stepfather) on Father's Day.

My husband said it didn't bother him - but it has sure bugged me, especially after how many times he helps them - I get they have their own issues about Father's Day, but they have a good role model that is on their side - to me, there is no good excuse. My husband said, it won't stop him from still helping them out when they need it - that is unconditional love -
