Foodie and I decided to just go out to eat - I just didn't want to cook or mess up my kitchen. We had a wonderful dinner at a local brewery that has the best hamburgers in town.
Then we drove out to Shasta Dam. My favorite time is the evening, just before sunset. We're having such nice temps - and it looks like we might have a chance for rain this weekend.
Saw a large litter of stray cats that someone must have dumped. They were so cute - must have been about 12 of them. I am going to let the Homeless Cat Network know about them. They can't be there - and I am surprised that the Park Service is allowing them unless it happened fairly soon. It just breaks my heart.
As we Walked toward the top of the Dam we saw a small herd of Deer. They always come out to this area -
A lady was feeding them. The same lady was also feeding the cats.
They let me get very close.
There was a young buck there and a young fawn.
One was limping - her hindquarters were damaged; probably due to a mountain lion attack.
I adore animals and it hurts my heart but I know, nature isn't always kind.
Walked out to the Dam - looking at the Lake
Very quiet. No one was on the Dam.
On the other side of the Dam is the Sacramento River.
We walked the whole length of the Dam and back.
Looking back as we left.
I dropped Foodie off at his home - he hugged me and told me,
"We have to do this more often!"
I agree!
It makes a mom feel good, when her son, enjoys hanging out with his dear old Mom.
Meanwhile, Navy is at the lookout cabin and sent some photos which I shared yesterday and the husband will be taking that long bus ride home, tomorrow. (He's south of Fresno) He's had such an enjoyable and meaningful time. I, too have thoroughly enjoyed my time.
