| Sunrise on my earlier than normal morning walk Today doesn't even feel like a "holiday" which suits me fine. Both sons and my daughter-in-law who is a nurse, still have to "labor" and both sons work in a 24/7 medical facility. We make our own holidays. Navy and my husband are going to take a unique night hike - up to Lassen Peak - see to the moon rise and the sunset. Navy is bringing a friend. They will camp for 2 nights - Thursday and Friday and come home Saturday. AFTER THAT, the husband is committed to going on a work crew from our church to the Central Valley - to a Farm Processing plant to work for 5 days. Throughout the year our church sends down workers, to glean the fields and by Fall, they make a dry soup mix that they send to the hungry, all over the world. During the growing season, they dry peaches and other fruits and vegetables. It's my time next year. Someone has to stay home and take care of our fur babies. I will have a lot of time to myself. Ohhhh, What will I do? What will I do? It's 110 degrees right now. Thankfully the house is cool - AC is set at 77. Like I thought, "they" have already backed down from yesterday's predictions. Today's forecast for the week is: 117 for tomorrow 113 for Wednesday 113 for Thursday 115 for Friday 102 on Saturday 99 on Sunday. THE FIRES The Mill fire in Weed is at 4263 acres and has a 40% containment. Mountain fire is at 10,558 acres with a 10% containment. THE BACKYARD Is a mess. The tomatoes have stopped producing - maybe the heat? Sunflowers are spent and need to be cut down. I'm anxious to get everything put away and clean up but this heat stops us. This morning my husband fixed our sprinkler drip lines. We noticed some plants were dying - and found out the drip lines were clogged. *NOTE* I wanted to say that I did not mean to imply these 2 latest fires were started by arson - it will take them weeks of investigating to find out what happened. It's just around here, we are all on edge because it does seem the crazies come out when it's hot and they get a thrill - they are mentally not stable. Some have a compulsion to set fires - Others do it because they are just evil and angry at the world. |
