The neighbors in the neighborhood

I'm sure you can all guess that I am pretty fed up with the hot weather by now. "They," said it was supposed to cool down and then I look and they've instead said we're still going to be hot.

and still, keep their job?

The House across the street from me is pending/sale. One day on the market - years ago it was a model home for this subdivision. Betty and her husband were original owners - this was back when there was a little airport a couple blocks away and her husband would fly home, and then taxi his plane to the house.

Gone is the airport - and now gone is Betty. Her son lives in Carmel and wanted her to be nearer to him and his family. She is in her mid 90's. Served in WW2 as a WASP and she met her husband while in service. She was still sharp - and came over in June to say goodbye to us. Then she left and had workers painting and getting the place ready to sell.

The Neighbors across the street from Betty and kitty-corner to us is a well-kept house that intrigues me. They're still the same owners that were there when my folks lived here. People are coming and going all the time. They have a beautiful pool in their backyard and have pool parties - music, the constant boom boom from the bass - about once a week lately. I only hear it in my living room. and just the bass sound. It could be worse. I feel for their neighbors in back of them.

They also grow marijuana in the back yard and in the morning when I take my walk, I can smell it. It's that time of year again, Harvest time. You're allowed 6 plants legally. In the rural areas, there are hundreds of pot farms - just last week, they busted illegal marijuana farms and seized 11,500 plants.

If you're legal - you're fine.

A couple of houses down I have fairly new neighbors from Oregon -  they water their lawn every day to where it runs off into the gutter. They don't water on "their assigned days"

I admit, it bugs me. My lawn is practically dead and theirs is a nice lush green. Still,  it's not worth reporting to the city over and that is exactly what the city wants us to do.  - I feel if they want to get them, they need to do it - you don't pit neighbor against neighbor.

Everyone in my neighborhood keeps to themselves. Back in the bay area, where I raised my family, I knew everyone. We'd sit out front and wave to everyone as they drove by. It was fun.

Not here. Mostly, they automatically roll up their garage door - drive the car in and that is that. You may see them at the cluster boxes occasionally.  I think most go at night when it's pitch dark. We know the ones who have dogs - or I should say we know the dog's name (not the owners) we just call them Sophia's Mom or Truman's dad.

We recognize some of the morning walkers - and the School Bus picks up across the street from us so we recognize the students or the cars that drop them off or wait for them after school.

Monday the street cleaners come - I love that sound - and I also enjoy the sound of the school bus in the mornings.

I can't wait till the rain - and cooler temps. It's coming, I know...

Hard to believe it is almost September.

Navy's birthday is the 25th. I love September - actually I love all the "bers".

Are you starting to see Fall?
