Outdoor Activities To Enjoy On The Lancashire Coast

The Lancashire Coast on the North West of England is home to seaside resorts like Blackpool and Morecambe, as well as Lytham St. Annes, Cleveleys, and Fleetwood, and a number of other regions. As well as the likes of the Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Tower, there are many outdoor Activities that you can enjoy throughout the year. Enjoy time in the water, on the water, or by the water with the following activity ideas.

Bay Sea School In Morecambe

The Bay Sea School is a sailing and maritime school. It offers a wide range of courses, from First Aid to Sea Survival, and it also provides affordable and accessible sailing classes. Whether you are a first timer or have sailed before, and whether you want to learn the ropes or sit back and take in the stunning Morecambe coastline, you can book for 1 to 5 day courses and fun sails. Prices are competitive, families are welcomed, and all the skippers are fully trained and professional so that you can enjoy total peace of mind as well as relaxation and enjoyment.

Sandyachting In St. Annes

Sandyachting returned to the beaches of Lytham St. Annes in 2015, and if you have experience sand yachting, land yachting, or land sailing, then you can enjoy access to miles of sand, typically accompanied by generous winds. Restrictions do exist, which means that you will have to head to the beach with an affiliated club or for an organised event.

Fishing Spots In Morecambe

Morecambe is home to a plethora of great sea fishing spots. Some of the spots are very easy to access. The North Wall has its own parking so you could, if you wanted, fish from the boot of your parked car. Unfortunately, this usually means that there is greater competition for the best catch. The Power Station Outflows are slightly more difficult to find and the region may not be the prettiest but it does yield some great catches. To talk local fishing marks, and to get your tackle and equipment, Gerry’s Fishing is ideally located on Marine Road West.

St. Annes’ Beach Huts

If you’ve had enough fishing, or you want somewhere to relax for a few hours, then the recently renovated St. Annes Beach Huts are a great spot. The beach huts can be rented on a daily basis, or if you’re looking to stay longer, then the beach hut apartments are comfortable, offer very easy access to the beach, and provide a unique seaside experience that include additional features like family picnics. If you’re looking for adventure then the beach huts may not be suitable.

The RSPB In Morecambe

The Lancashire coastline is home to many genus of fish, gulls, and other aquatic life. The RSPB Leighton Moss and Morecambe Bay is great for animal lovers, and to take the kids to teach them about coastal wildlife. As well as the chance to see otters and even red deer, there is an award winning café so that you can fuel the kids for a day of fun and learning.

Outdoor Activities In Blackpool

The number of beach and water based activities available in Blackpool is surprisingly sparse, but this doesn’t mean that the Victorian holiday resort is without fun-filled outdoor activities. Stanley Park and Whyndyke Farm offer a host of activities from paintball and air rifle shooting to abseiling, skateboarding, and even a tunnel maze and high ropes adventure ground. While the activities might not be sea or beach based, they are fun for the whole family.

Lancashire and the Fylde Coast have a lot of adventures and activities that are designed for the whole family. If you enjoy getting out, you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, and you want to show the kids how to have fun away from the computer screen and tablet, then the activities above should provide the kind of activities that you are looking for.
