AutoWeek.com - "Detroit winters aren’t the nation’s worst, but are abominable enough that I start counting the days until spring sometime in August. One of the few warm, er, bright spots is January’s Detroit auto show. Frankly, the show has evolved—or devolved, depending on your disposition—into such a spectacle of excess that I have a hard time recommending people attend unless they can go during normal working hours on a weekday. Show up after work or on a weekend and you can easily spend as much time fighting through hordes of show-goers as inspecting cars up close. Plus, the proliferation of enthusiast websites and publications means that dedicated car people know what most of the year’s “secret” concept cars look like long before they hit the Cobo Hall floor.
