New Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster Spy Shots Were Published

Mercedes-Benz has started the testing of its new AMG GT Roadster and here are the first Spy Shots of the car. The convertible version of the GT Sports Car will be launched under the Mercedes-AMG brand name, and will compete with the Porsche 911. According to Autocar, the debut of the convertible car can take place before the end of this year.

The design of the new convertible resembles Mercedes-AMG GT3. The car received a folding soft top and a big trunk with integrated third stop light. The model’s suspension settings could be tweaked to deal with the soft-top’s inevitable weight gain. The weight is expected to be close to 1700 kg.

The standard version of the roadster will have the same 4.0-litre ‘hot vee’ twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the regular GT and will produce 456bhp. The top version that will be called Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster will have the upgraded V8 engine with 503 horse power returns.

It was reported earlier that Mercedes-Benz will expand the AMG GT lineup in the future. One of the new vehicles in addition to the roadster will be GT4 and will sit below the GT3 sports car. The GT4 will compete with McLaren 570S GT4. Another road-legal GT model is also expected. It’s likely that it will be an even more powerful range-topper, possibly called ‘Black Series’, in 2018.

Mercedes also introduced an AMG GT R sports car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car took the place in between the model range AMG GT S and Black Series AMG GT. The main competitor of new sports car will be the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The vehicle production will take place at the factory in Sindelfingen Germany.
