BMW Unveiled MINI Vision Next 100

MINI has unveiled a new car concept called Vision Next 100 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its parent company, BMW. The futuristic hatchback is equipped with autonomous control system and electric power plant.

The size of the new model is close to the very first MINI hatchback released in 1959. This is intended to show how the brand design will develop in the next hundred years. The new features of Vision Next 100 include an interior with a system of augmented reality and artificial intelligence, enabling the new Mini Cooper to adapt to the tastes of the Driver.

Drivers can customize the ride via the centrally positioned circular instrument. An “Inspire Me” button which can check your data and recommend points of interest or even switch the car into John Cooper Works performance mode.

For example, if the Vision Next 100 “sees” a smooth road, and “feel” that the driver is ready for an active driving, it will offer him to include “sport” mode called John Cooper Works. When the driver doesn’t feel like driving, he/she can switch to autonomous mode, the Steering Wheel slides across to a position in the center of the dashboard. The pedals slide with the steering wheel to provide increased legroom for the driver. Despite the appearance of autonomous driving technology, Mini says the steering wheel will remains an integral part of the interior in future models.

The length of the Mini Vision Next 100 is 3620 millimeters. It is 560 millimeters longer than the first MINI and 270 millimeters shorter than the current generation of the hatchback.

Interior is another distinctive feature of the Concept Car, which is mad out of recycled plastic and aluminum in the floor area, roof lining, and side panel trim. Recycled cellulose makes up the trim covering the lower section of the seat. There is no wood or leather, but you will notice knitted Alcantara on the seat covers.

MIIN prototype has become the third concept car BMW has prepared for its centenary. Rolls-Royce concept car debuted together with MINI Vision Next 100, and BMW presented Vision Next 100 prototype in March 2016.
