BMW X7 – A Seven-Seater & A Four-Seat Luxury Version

German automaker postponed the debut of its giant crossover X7 and announced some details about the future Luxury models. It turns out that BMW does not see the point of creating a luxury sub-brand like Mercedes-Maybach.

Recently, the Bavarians have officially accepted that the rival of Mercedes-Benz GLS is in development, and announced that the X7 will be available no earlier than 2018. BMW AG Sales and Marketing Director Ian Robertson told The British auto website AutoExpress that the sales of the X7 will begin in 2018. However, this is not the most exciting news.

It turns out that there are going to be two versions of X7 – let’s say, a usual seven-seater and a high-end version with just four seats and a distinctive look (the high-end version will run more than of $100 000). In addition to all conceivable options and a four-seat configuration, the car will differ in appearance and apparently will take the honorary title of a full top-model of BMW. The Luxury Version has already been designated as a prospective rival of Mercedes-Maybach GLS. By the way, there is no need to talk about a formation of a sub-brand like Mercedes did. Robertson has dispelled the rumors and said that the X7 would be sharing bits and pieces with the Rolls Royce Cullinan, dismissing the idea altogether. He also added that they don’t feel the ultra-luxurious X7 would go up against the Mercedes-Maybach GLS because BMW is not looking to rival Maybach as they already have the Rolls-Royce brand positioned above.

The representative of the company also talked about another SUV, which is at the opposite pole from the X7. Robertson avoided the specifics, however, would obviously be an X2, a coupe version of the X1, made in the same style as the X4 and X6. The promo bimmer is expected next year.

Germans also created a phenomenal concept car Vision Next 100, giving an idea of the future BMW. The experimental development demonstrates a bold development of style.

The company will introduce a new generation of M5 super sedan before the X7 hits the market. According to insider information, this monster is equipped with an engine capacity of over 600hp
