This red Ferrari 308 GTS once suffered because of a fire caused by a fuel leak, but was later restored and literally risen from the ashes. The Italian masterpiece is no longer produces stunning “cry”, and moves without the noise and dust.

Ferrari 308 GTE? A standard vehicle with such an index has not been produced: a coupe GTB and GTS version with a Targa body had come to production from 1975 to 1985. They were equipped with a 2.9-liter V8, including units with four valves per cylinder (these vehicles appeared in 1982, and carried the quattrovalvole designation). It is not difficult to guess that the GTE is a side project.

The Ferrari 308 GTS was restored, revived and electrified by Electric GT, an electric car conversion company based in San Diego. Some Western online resources have already asked the question whether this is blasphemy. Be that as it may, the car built by Electric GT is interesting. GTE is unlikely to have shortage of power and traction: instead of 240-horsepower V8 engine, three AC51 HPEVS (Hi Performance Electric Vehicle Systems) electric motors and 48 batteries produce an impressive 465 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque (the old sports car had only 264 Nm). Despite the fact that the restored Ferrari is carrying around a heavy battery pack, the 308 GTE weighs just 1520 kilograms, or around 46kg more than the original 308 GTS.

The new configuration also adds a 30-kWh battery pack for a range of about 100 miles and the company has promised to wrap up work on a newly developed pack with double the capacity. It’s interesting that the drive is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed Porsche G50 manual transmission that’s been mounted upside down and backwards. The one-of-a-kind Ferrari 308 GTE will be seen in action on May 22 in Monterey, CA at the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway. It will take part in Speed Ventures’ “REFUEL” 8th annual clean power motorsports event.
