BMW X5 Is Going to Retire

Modern BMW X5 Appeared three years ago and is about to give way to the next generation Model. New X will have nothing in common with its predecessor.

The Australian Motoring edition reported that Bavarian Crossovers of the first two generations were produced for seven years, however, the “short-life” of the modern generation models with the Intra-index F15 will be twice shorter! BMW Group Australia managing director Marc Werner confirmed the development of the new X5.

Almost sensationally quick conclusion of the fourth in a row X5 production is due to the desire of the company to fully upgrade its line of crossovers. The first sign was the new X1, changing the classical arrangement of the power unit to the front-wheel drive UKL chassis. Higher models will be twins in terms of the design – all of which will be set up on a CLAR scalable platform. The transition to another basis indirectly points to the Engine Range changes.

Some details are known about the full-size crossover X7, which is expected in 2018. It will share the platform with the “younger brothers” and will surpass X5 by the length of approximately 0.5 m. The heaviest modification will be about 1900 kg, that is, it will be a couple of hundred lighter than today’s X5. The Engine range will vary. Rationally thinking, the customers can purchase a seven-seater giant with a six-cylinder engine and a plug-in hybrid power plant.
