The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Convertible Has Been Spotted

Another representative of the new generation E-Class will be a Convertible and the debut of new E-class is expected as early as next year. Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet has been spotted testing near Mercedes-Benz’s headquarters in Germany and reveals a revised headlight design.

Although the prototype has been heavily camouflaged, it is expected to pick up some prominent features from the new E-Class Coupe. This means that the new convertible inherits the overall profile from the coupe, the radiator grille and already known cross-beam headlights. Of course, there will be difference in the roof structure, and a slightly modification in the rear part of the car.

The paparazzi could not get close enough to look into the interior of the convertible, but some radical differences from the other members of the E-Class Cabriolet are not expected. It is likely that the new feature of this convertible version is going to be the opening/closing button of the roof systems that enhances the ride comfort, perhaps, a new steering wheel with touch control buttons and a digital instrument cluster with two 12.3-inch displays.

Motor options won’t come as any surprise, likely featuring other members of the E-Class, thus the cabriolet will have a number of different powertrains options, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 241 hp, as well as several diesel engines with an output capacity from 195 to 258 hp.

E-Class Cabriolet “avoided” AMG variants for now, but it is possible that the new convertible may acquire E43 version, which could be equipped with a bi-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, developing 396 hp and 520 Nm of maximum torque.
