The Car Owner Discovers That He Bought A Faulty BMW Driven by Jeremy Clarkson

An unfortunate misunderstanding happened with a 27-year-old British guy named Rob Willis. He bought a BMW M3 sedan from a local dealership that started having a very poor technical condition after filming the popular TV show.

The new owner was told that he had acquired a demo sample on which the saloon staff had demonstrated the possibility of the car to the potential buyers. Rob paid $75860 for the BMW and soon discovered a number of technical problems. In particular, there were problems with the braking system and steering.

A month after the purchase, Rob and his wife were watching an old episode of Top Gear, and the wife drew his attention to the fact that the license plate on Jeremy Clarkson’s car coincide with their own.

He went back to the dealership to confront the salesperson about the discovery. He was eventually given a 330d as a replacement along with some free bonuses. However, Rob Willis was still unhappy, “It’s outrageous, I have an eight-year-old daughter and three young nephews whose lives have been risked,” he said. “The dealers told me it was a mistake and the car should never have been sold as it was unfit for the road.”

Apparently, Top Gear has found itself in such a messy situation earlier as well when it was accused of ruining the car that featured in the popular BBC show. That was a C-Type Jaguar that had issues with the clutch and tires back in 2003, as was reported by the car’s owner Adrian Hamilton.
