BMW X2 Concept Was Launched

BMW has unveiled a sister Model to the second generation X1, the Concept crossover X2. The prototype debuted at the Paris Motor Show.

No technical details about the BMW concept car were revealed. Autocar reports that the overall length of the X2 is 4439 millimeters, width is 1821 mm, and height is 1598 millimeters. Thus, the length and width are identical to the last generation X1, however it’s 14 millimeters lower than the X1.

The serial version of the BMW X2 will be the second crossover of the German mark, which will be built on a front-wheel drive UKL platform. This chassis is used on the MINI models (the next generation Countryman will also have the same), as well as on X1 and 2-Series Active Tourer.

It is expected that at the time of the launch, which is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018, the X2 will be offered with one 2.0-litre petrol engine which will be turbocharged and will produce 189bhp. There will be three diesel engine options, all of which will have BMW’s 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel oil burner but in different states of tune. As far as transmission options are concerned, there will be choice between 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic units along 2WD or 4WD option as well.

It is also possible that the model, which will be sold both in the front and four-wheel drive, will get M-Performance model that will use a more heavily tuned version of the X2 xDrive20i’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder developing in the region of 300bhp.

BMW Management approved the development of the X2 in May 2015. At the same time, it was reported that the interior of the new X2 will be fully unified with the X1.
