My dad is an Idaho boy through and through. He still lives in the same small town he was born in and knows everyone by name. If I were to describe his “type,” I’d first have to tell you that his hands are always cracked and dirty from tilling them through the garden, reaching under the car hood, and tinkering with greasy nuts and bolts. I’d have to tell you that he is practical to the core. In fact, he is notorious for making his socks last decades by rotating them a quarter of an inch every time they get a hole in the bottom.

He taught me how to ride a bike and how to drive a stick shift. He didn’t yell when, as a teenager, I drove right into our mail box, uprooting it and sending it skidding down the dirt road. His idea of a perfect Sunday night is pulling old fashioned salt water taffy with the grandkids and sitting on the back porch chatting and sucking on taffy with the mountains in the background.

I guess you could say my dad is the handy, outdoorsy type.

And because he’s so practical, it’s tough to know what to get him for Father’s Day. Luckily, Sears has some amazing Father’s Day gift ideas for every type of dad! Hop on over to Sears.com/destinationdad where you’ll find gifts for your guy’s type.

There’s the

  • Handy Dad
  • Stylin’ Dad
  • Social Dad
  • Outdoor Dad
  • Active Dad

You’ll also find the perfect gifts for the Fitness-Focused Dad, the Master Chef Dad, and the Techie Dad. Sears literally has everything you could ever think of for Father’s Day, and it’s not too late to shop!

Last-minute shoppers like me can still get dad a gift for Father’s Day by visiting your local Sears store, shopping from the Sears mobile app, and even getting Free In-Store Pick Up! I took my girls there today and we shopped off Grandpa’s wish list.

Like I said, my dad is painfully practical. He rarely “splurges” on fun items for himself, so this year I decided to help him create a wish list from Sears. We sat down and perused Sears.com/destinationdad and jotted down some items that he would love to have for Father’s Day, which included:

  • a new lawn mower
  • grilling gear (his outdoor domain)
  • a gas powered pressure washer (to wash the dirt and dust off the house)
  • a new watch (He sadly just lost the one he’d had for 20 years.)
  • a new electric shaver (He’s used the same one since I was a child sitting on the counter watching him shave.)
  • a canoe (to take the grandkids for a ride in the river)
  • a high powered blender (this one surprised me!) to make his smoothies in the morning

Having him make a wish list gave us some great ideas for Father’s Day and other upcoming holidays. A lot of times, my siblings all go in together on a larger item so that dad can have something big that he really wants. This year, we settled on grilling gear. His burgers are the finest around. Oh, and I threw in a dress shirt and a new pair of socks for good measure.

So what is your guy’s type?

Sears is graciously giving one HowDoesShe reader a $100 gift card to go splurge on dad! Go to Sears.com/destinationdad and start your own wish list, letting your guy’s type guide you. Make sure to enter the $100 Sears gift card giveaway below—good luck!
