3 Fun Halloween Rhymes Guaranteed to Make your Kids Laugh

Warning: These FUN Halloween rhymes are GUARANTEED to get your kids laughing, BUT you will most likely be humming their catchy tune for days to come!! There is no better way to celebrate Fall and Halloween than by singing and dancing to fun Halloween music!

Does anyone else out there love fall and Halloween as much as we do in our home?

I mean, something about the transforming leaves and the crispy cool air, and not to mention all the pumpkin desserts… mmmmm. It’s tempting to want to stay in our jammies all day and just cuddle and read books (which we sometimes just do!). But with a house full of boys and cold weather keeping us indoors- we really need to make it a point to move!! This is not only to get the wiggles out (partially for my sanity) but to get us LAUGHING and having FUN! Did you know that laughter floods the body with hormones like oxytocin, which promotes connection! So, laughing is a great way to bond with our kids!

Thanks to my sister Bee , who has introduced me to these musical rhymes, I have three different rhymes for you to try with your little ones!

1. Whoopee Cushion Pumpkin Rhyme:

Now who doesn’t love a good whoopee cushion sound? I mean this is a guarantee in the laughing department at our house!

Materials needed: Just a whoopee cushion! We got these off of Oriental Trading post but you can find blank whoopee cushions at your local dollar store and can just draw a face if you want to make it look like a pumpkin.

Directions: Each person can pass around the whoopee cushion or just have their own in their hands while they sing:

“This is a pumpkin, it’s round- NOT flat,

But when I sit on it, it goes KERSPLAT!!”

And that’s the time to sit on the whoopee  cushion…cue the giggles! Tooting noises with a toddler-never gets old!

2. Leaves Fall Down Rhyme: (To the tune of Ring Around the Rosies)

This is great for little ones who love throwing things up in the air and already know the tune.

Materials needed: Leaves! We got these at our local dollar store and just cut off the stems. You could also just use paper or confetti or basically whatever you want to represent leaves.

Directions:. Grab a handful of leaves and  walk around in a circle and sing to the tune of Ring Around the Rosies: “Autumn winds are blowing, leaves are turning orange, falling, falling, the leaves FALL DOWN!” Then throw the leaves up in the air and fall down the floor! The little ones love it!

You can watch this clip of our demo of the rhyme here:

3. The Ghost Song- I Say Boo!

This one is an original song by Bee that she wrote for this time of the year. We made little maracas here in this post using this song, but today we are using it with a simple white sheet and pretending to be ghosts!

Materials Needed: A white sheet! Or whatever color- basically something everyone can get under.

Directions: The kids can hold onto a corner of the sheet and walk around in a circle and when the lyrics say, “I like to go outside and hide…”  they hide under the sheet and jump out when they hear, “And I say BOO!” You can learn the song and the tune by listening to Bee play it in the videos below.

Lyrics:

Ghost Song- “I say Boo!”
I am a ghost, I am a ghost,
I like to wear white for my head to my toe.
And on Halloween night, on Halloween night
I like to go outside and hide…
Until someone comes walking around…
And I say BOO! I say boo, boo, boo, I say boo!

Here is us doing a demo of the song with the sheet:

Here is a video of Bee playing her original Ghost Song for reference!
