The 2016 European Universities Games are the third biannual games to take place in the Croatian cities of Zagreb and Rijeka between 13 and 24 July 2016.

Croatian post issued two postage stamps to commemorate the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016.

Furthermore, the two stamps feature the logo and mascot of the Games and a woman diver.

European Universities Games 2016

The third edition of the EUG will be taking place in the Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka in July 2016.

The event slogan is Heart Believes – Mind Achieves.

Moreover, this is the largest European multisport event organised by European University Sports Association (EUSA) and Croatian Academic Sports Federation (CASF).

The mega event will see over 5000 participants from 400 universities in 45 countries.

Also there are more than 2000 medals, around 130 trophies for the best, and 120 special prizes to win.

Games will feature competitions for men and women in 21 sports.

Badminton, Basketball, Basketball 3×3, Beach Volleyball, Bridge, Chess, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo and Karate.

In addition, Rowing, Rugby 7’s, Sport Climbing, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo also included.

Two of the sports – Table Tennis and Swimming – will also include competitions for students with disabilities.

Apart of the sports competitions, the Games will be accompanied by the Rector’s Conference, educational side-events, cultural program and other activities.
