The Queen Elizabeth II was born at 2:40am on 21 April 1926 in London to the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and was the elder of their two daughters.

The Queen is Head of State of the UK and 15 other Commonwealth realms.

The Queen Elizabeth II is the world’s oldest reigning monarch as well as Britain’s longest-lived.

In 2015, she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, to become the longest-reigning Monarch in world history.

The Queen celebrates two birthdays each year: her actual Birthday on 21 April and her official birthday on a Saturday in June.

90th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II – Niue

Niue has a free association with New Zealand and Niueans are New Zealand citizens, Queen Elizabeth II is Niue’s head of state.

When Princess Elizabeth was born, she was third in line to the throne, behind her uncle Edward, Prince of Wales and her father, the Duke of York. She became heir apparent when her uncle, then King Edward VIII, abdicated the throne and her father became King George VI.

Tokelau is a territory of New Zealand and Queen Elizabeth II is Tokelau’s head of state.

On 21 April 2016 the Queen celebrated her 90th birthday, making for another incredible milestone in her extensive reign.

The special four-stamp issue shows photographs of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II from throughout her life and reign and is a fitting tribute to this royal icon.

Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April 1926 and has been Queen of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth realms since 6 February 1952. During her reign she has achieved a number of incredible milestones, including being the longest-lived sovereign in history since turning 81 in 2007 and becoming Britain’s longest-reigning monarch in 2015.

Queen Elizabeth II was born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary to the then Duke and Duchess of York. She was the elder of two children and was born third in line to the throne. Her two middle names came from her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Alexandra, and paternal grandmother, Queen Mary.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has had a truly impressive reign. In 2015 she became Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, beating the previous record set by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. 90 Years of Style – Bahamas

Queen Elizabeth II both as Princess and Queen has presented the world with 90 Years of Style.

To commemorate this great personality and to celebrate the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Bahamas Post released four stamps and a souvenir sheet.

During the war and post war years when austerity and rationing lingered across the land she was famously thrifty, wearing hand-me-downs, her mother’s re-worked clothes and off the peg outfits.

One of her most famous outfits was of course the dress for her wedding in 1947. This wedding was perhaps the start of royal wedding fever, yet just like everyone else in 1947 the Princess Elizabeth had to fund the material for the dress with clothing ration coupons, although the Government kindly allowed her 200 extra coupons!

Famously, people sent in their own coupons to help the Princess out, but they were sent back with a note of thanks as it was illegal for her to use them.

Happily times improved and mostly she has worn couture. The years of immaculate style demonstrate that whilst Her Majesty may not be interested in high fashion she is most certainly interested in clothes and impeccable style.

To this day the Queen remains the centre of attention wherever she goes and is subject to critical assessment every time she appears in public.

The pressure of such scrutiny must be phenomenal yet there has never been a wardrobe malfunction nor a fashion faux pas. Her impeccable style has ensured her place as an icon of fashion.

HM Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday stamps – Pitcairn Islands

HM Queen Elizabeth II is Head of State of the United Kingdom and fifteen other Commonwealth realms. She has reigned through more than sixty years of enormous social change and development.

The 90th birthday follows a large number of milestones for the Queen who became the longest-reigning British monarch on 9 September 2015 when she surpassed the reign of her great great grandmother Queen Victoria. These have included:

• The Queen’s Silver Jubilee, 1977, celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Queen’s accession on 6 February 1952.
• Golden Jubilee – an exciting calendar of events took place in 2002 to celebrate fifty years of The Queen’s reign.
• The Queen’ 80th birthday was celebrated in style in 2006.
• Diamond Wedding Anniversary – the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on 20 November 2007.
• The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, 2012 – this multinational celebration throughout 2012 marked the 60th anniversary of the accession.
• Royal Jubilees celebrate significant periods in monarchs’ reigns and the national life. Few British monarchs have achieved reigns of 50 years, and Golden Jubilees are very rare.

There are few records of how – if at all – Henry III, Edward III and James VI celebrated their 50-year milestones. The first British monarch to mark 50 years on the throne in a significant way was George III, followed by Queen Victoria.

Planned celebrations for the Queen’s 90th official birthday over May and June 2016 include a pageant celebrating The Queen’s life to be held in Windsor Castle; a National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral; The Queen’s Birthday Trooping the Colour Parade on Horse Guards Parade and a Patron’s Lunch which is a celebration of Her Majesty’s patronage of over 600 organisations in the UK and around the Commonwealth since 1952.

Alderney celebrates the occasion of The Queen’s 90th Birthday with a set of stamps depicting Her Majesty on her official birthday.

The photographs have been taken during the last five years at the Trooping the Colour ceremony, which marks Her Majesty’s official birthday in June.

The stamps also include an image taken on the day The Queen became Britain’s Longest Reigning Monarch.

In 2016, as The Queen marks the occasion of her 90th Birthday, a series of events are planned for her official birthday.

On Friday 10 June, a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral will take place, followed by Trooping the Colour on Saturday 11 June and culminating in The Patron’s Lunch as the celebratory finale on Sunday 12 June.

During the Trooping the Colour ceremony, The Queen is greeted by a Royal salute and carries out an inspection of the troops.

After the massed bands have performed a musical ‘troop’, the escorted Regimental Colour is carried down the ranks.

The Queen rides in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of her Guards, before taking the salute at the Palace from a dais (platform). Since the reign of Edward VII, the Sovereign has taken the salute in person at Trooping the Colour. The troops then return to barracks.

Her Majesty then joins other members of the Royal Family on the palace balcony for a fly-past by the Royal Air Force, which traditionally follows Trooping the Colour.

With the exception of 1955 when a national rail strike cancelled the event, The Queen has attended Trooping the Colour every year of her reign.

Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Stamps – New Zealand

New Zealand post created a very special stamp to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II 90th birthday, making her the first British monarch to reach this impressive milestone.

Queen Elizabeth II has achieved many incredible milestones as the reigning monarch, including being New Zealand’s and Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, being the longest-lived sovereign in history and being married longer than any other monarch.

To pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, New Zealand Post is proud to issue a series of lenticular stamps that perfectly encapsulate the breadth and longevity of her life and reign as sovereign.

Included in the issue are three stamps, housed within a unique miniature sheet. Each stamp contains three images – simply tilt the miniature sheet and watch the images change!

The images take us from the Queen’s christening in 1926 right through to her attendance at the 2015 Anzac commemorations in London.

This beautiful 1oz silver proof coin features the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother) pictured holding their daughter, Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) as she sleeps in a precious christening gown.

The christening gown has been used by the royal family for generations, with a faithful replica used today for the newest additions to the royal family.

The photo has been printed using a minted photo image technique, replicating the photographic look from days gone by. The photograph is framed by beautiful, high relief gold plating featuring New Zealand’s p?hutukawa flowers.

IOM Special cover to mark Queen’s 90th birthday

To mark Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday, Isle of Man Stamps and Coins have commissioned a special cover and exclusive sheetlet with a birthday wish from The Sun’s royal photographer, Arthur Edwards MBE.

The sheetlet features the 77p stamp marking the Queen’s royal visit to Ireland in 2011 and the 93p stamp featuring an image of the Queen from the Golden Jubilee tour from the Long to Reign Over Us issue.

These stamps have been set against photographs taken by renowned Royal photographer Arthur Edwards MBE during Her Majesty’s birthday celebrations on Wednesday 20th April 2016 ahead of her birthday.

In addition, the special cover features a unique postmark celebrating the date and has a bespoke birthday greeting.

There is also a Gold Postmark cover which includes all eight stamps commissioned to celebrate the Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday with a unique one day only gold postmark titled Royal Avenue dated 21st April 2016.

Arthur, who has travelled the world for 40 years photographing the Queen, says: “It’s a great honour to be taking pictures for such a super souvenir to mark the Queen’s birthday.”

Jersey stamps celebrating Queen Elizabeth II 90th birthday

A set of ten stamps released by Jersey Post to celebrate the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday.

The stamps feature nostalgic photographs from each decade of Her Majesty’s life, showing The Queen as a young child and with different members of her immediate family.

“Ever since she was born in 1926, The Queen’s family has formed a strong support network for her and to this day, family life remains very important and precious to Her Majesty,” comments Melanie Gouzinis, Head of Philatelic at Jersey Post.

Birthdays are often about the coming together of families at a time of celebration and the idea is presented through the images used on the stamps.

The photographs which feature were carefully selected to span each decade of Her Majesty’s life, from the 1920s right through to the 2010s, beginning with a wonderfully nostalgic black and white image of Queen Elizabeth II, then Princess Elizabeth, aged just two years old.

The Queen celebrates two birthdays each year. Her actual birthday falls on 21 April and her official birthday, on a Saturday in June. This occasion is known as Trooping the Colour and is celebrated with a spectacular birthday parade.

Whilst The Queen spends her official birthday watching the parade which moves between Buckingham Palace, The Mall and Horse Guards Parade in central London, Her Majesty spends her actual birthday privately, usually at Windsor Castle.

Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration – Australia

Australia post issued two stamps as a part of Queen’s Birthday stamp issue to celebrates the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In the domestic stamp, Her Majesty is pictured attending a garden party for the Not Forgotten Association (NFA), which is held annually to honour the contribution of the armed forces.

The Australian Golden Wattle diamond brooch is said to be one of the Queen’s personal favourites and features on the international stamp.

The brooch was presented as a gift from the people and government of Australia during the Queen’s inaugural tour of Australia in 1954 – the first ever tour by a reigning British monarch.

During the tour, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

They arrived on the SS Gothic, which sailed into Sydney Harbour, where the couple were met with a thunderously enthusiastic reception. It is estimated that around 75 per cent of Australia’s population caught a glimpse of the newly crowned queen during the tour.

Venue and Plan for Birthday Celebration

The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration takes place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle in the evenings of 12th – 15th May 2016.

The Celebration will take place in a purpose-built arena, used by Royal Windsor Horse Show during the day.

This stunning setting provides beautiful views of the lit-up Castle by night and this is the only time of the year that the public are allowed into the grounds.

The Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday party has been described as a celebration of the Queen’s life, her love of horses, her dedication to the Commonwealth and international affairs and her deep involvement with the Air Force, Army and Navy.

Over 90 minutes, 900 horses and more than 1,500 participants from around the United Kingdom and the world will take us on a journey from the excitement of the birth, through to WWII, her marriage, the coronation and a reign of more than 60 years. The celebration will use horses, actors, bands and dancers to tell the story.

Performers will come from a number of countries including Oman, Chile, New Zealand, Canada, Fiji, Australia, Azerbaijan and the UK. The military will be well represented and will include The Queen’s Mounted Troops and more than 100 pipers.

The celebration will be created by the team that organised the successful Diamond Jubilee Pageant in Windsor in 2012. This time, technology will play an important part in the celebration.

The 90-minute experience will be a fusion of the latest video projection, LED effects and theatrical lighting. The finale being a kaleidoscope of memories and achievements.
