A Versatile Blouse - extending the pattern for a dress (Part 3)

Part 3 has been a long time coming, I know. My apologies and thanks for your patience (and sticking with me thus far!). This tutorial shows how to extend the blouse pattern for a dress (of your own preferred length).

For reference, see Part 1 and Part 2.

Let's start.

1. From the nape of your neck at back, measure down to your desired length for a dress. For the sake of this tutorial, let's say that's 40".

2. Start with the Back bodice of your Versatile Blouse pattern. Place it on a long and wide enough piece of paper and tape the pattern down securely. From the back neck, measure down 40" at Centre Back, and mark. Draw out the extended CB line.

3. Square out from the end of the CB for the new hemline. Make this line longer than necessary.

4. Extend the side seam line up to the new hem line.

5. Shape the hem line; on the side seam, locate a point approximately 1cm from the horizontal hemline (A). Also locate the mid of the horizontal hemline (B). Using a curved ruler, draw out an appropriate curve from A to B. Cut out the new pattern.

6.You might also want to extend the lower dart for a slightly snugger fit about the tummy. This step is entirely optional.

7. Transfer the pattern to the Front bodice;place another piece of paper under the extended Back bodice pattern. Align the paper edge at the top to the waistline
of the pattern. Trace out the lower portion of the pattern onto the paper.

8. Replace the Back bodice pattern on the paper and with the Front bodice pattern. Align the pattern to the top of the paper at the waistline. Tape down to secure.

9. Cut out the new pattern. Again, you can extend the lower dart if you wish.

Now you have a Versatile Dress pattern :)
