Film Fest Obsessed

Chestnut Street, The center of the New Hampshire Film Festival.

This past weekend was the New Hampshire Film Festival and it was quite the extravaganza! When a person thinks about Portsmouth New Hampshire, an Indie Film Festival doesn’t readily come to mind (Market Square Day, maybe). Documentaries, Feature Films and Shorts were just a few of the main attractions at this Festival. Each night ended with VIP After Parties around town and afternoon brunches at the 100 Club. Mike O’Malley (aka Kurt’s Dad from Glee), Tommy Chong and even Moet Chandon were just a few of the most popular attendees. The festival was kick started with New Hampshire Day on Thursday, which profiled special New Hampshire made films, shorts and documentaries.

Now, I have the tendency to get over excited when there is a valid opportunity to dress for an event and Portsmouth rarely has these opportunities. So, needless to say, the girls at Serendipity jumped at the opportunity to answer my question:

How do you dress for a Film Fest?

Free People Jacket, LA Class dress, Yellow Box Wedges, D&Y Handbag

Kelsea, a fellow stylist at Serendipity, pulled together a great looking outfit that balances the chilly, dark movie theatres with the chique, late night afterparties! As a dutiful fashion blogger, I had just as much fun observing the fashion of both moviegoers and film stars as I did actually watching the films. All in all, I would say that the NH Film Fest is a great weekend gift that never stops giving. However, The fashion of attendees could be improved in my opinion (I mean sweatpants….really?) I personally enjoyed seeing a satin/cotton blended tank dress with a chunky knit sweater, colored tights and a pair of knee-high Frye boots. The look was easy, effortless and extremely flattering. A true shout-out to the movie fan I saw wearing that particular outfit this weekend!

It was great to see some familiar friends such as Free People, BB Dakota and Jack (along with Jeffrey Campbell, of course) throughout the films at the Festival. Free People and BB Dakota were spotted in the Andy Sandberg Indie, Celeste & Jesse Forever, a sure-to-be Big Hit! Jeffrey Campbell’s look lethally cool in the film, Girls Against Boys, staring Danielle Panabaker.

Make sure to stop by Serendipity and share your thoughts on what films you thought were “Yays” or “Nays”.
