Clocks with hands are often just there as a stylish decoration and not for telling time.

The Jimmy Kimmel show goes to the street to see if younger adults can

Can Young People Read a Clock?

This mantle clock stands 9.5" tall. The clock case is 8" wide. You will need a 6" clock insert with a 3" or 3 1/8" mounting hole. I am linking to Bear Woods for a nice selection of 6" inserts.

If you do not have access to 1/4" thick wood this wide then you can eliminate the front surround and just use the 3/4" for the clock case.

The face surround is optional.
