5 Tips to Make your Car Run Trouble Free

Tags: fuel tank coolant

Owning a Car means spending money on repairs and its services. Did you know that just following some simple tips that cost nothing will reduce your car service and repair bills considerably? Here is a list of such tips that every car owner must know and follow it apart from regular servicing to enjoy a trouble-free ride for years:

1. Feed it regularly

Make sure that you always have more than 40% Fuel in your tank and never keep your car parked for long with lesser fuel in the tank. Don’t wait for reserve light to come up for refueling. Most car fuel tanks are made of metal and fuel in the tank stops the tank from corroding. If you keep it empty most of the time, there will be corrosion in the tank and that corrosion will not only eat up your tank but it will clog your fuel injectors, destroy your fuel pump and other components in your fuel system. Fuel also works as a lubricant for your fuel pump.

2. Change Coolant

Regardless of how many years the life of Coolant is according to the printed information on coolant bottle, it’s better to flush your engine cooling system and put in new coolant on every service. Bad coolant will cause engine block temperature to rise and in the worse case, it can blow up the head gasket. I have seen engine blocks that were corroded just because the owner never changed the coolant or used just plain water.

3. Check Tyre pressure

On every re-fueling visit to fuel station, use that free air service and get your all 5 tires (or at least 4) checked. Proper air in the tire will not only return good gas mileage but also prevent your car suspension parts from failing prematurely.  Change your tire if they are old and getting bald. Old tires become hard and they lose grip on the road and are bad for your car suspension too.

4. Wash your car

It’s a good workout too! Use that Sunday morning to wash your car and see how it shines. Make sure you don’t forget to remove the dirt from the inside of wheel arches and fender linings. The dirt stuck to wheel arches are the common reason why the car chassis starts to corrode. Body repair jobs are expensive, and the factory fit and finish is never achieved. Washing your car will also enhance its paint life.

5. Plan your route

Before leaving, plan your route. Look up at Google Maps to see if there is a traffic jam in your desired route. It’s better to go using a slightly longer route than spending hours stuck in the traffic. If your car spends most of its time in bumper to bumper traffic, it will not only return a poor gas mileage but also ruin its clutch and brakes.
