Knitting the Neapolitan Ice Cream Stole with Angora Lace Yarn

Today I’m sharing my design and pattern instructions for the Neapolitan Ice Cream Stole using two solid colors of Angora Lace yarn (the coffee and the white) and one speckled colorway (Spicetree). Yesterday, we looked at the way to make a knit-through-decrease, which will help us make the easy to learn lace panels for this stole. Of course, use any 3 colors you like and change the name, but working with this lovely, soft, fingering weight yarn will make any stole warm and comfortable next to your neck.

A combination of wide and narrow stripes, slipped stitch columns, reverse stockinette stitch motifs and lace panels keeps every knitter from getting bored without leaving their brain drained.

Materials Needed

Size US 6 [4mm] needles or size necessary to achieve gauge.
Wisdom Yarn Angora Lace, 1 ball each in 3 colors

Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows = 4” [10cm]

Abbreviations:

K = Knit
P = Purl
Ktd (Knit-Through Decrease) = Insert RH needle through next stitch purlwise, grab second stitch with needle point and knit it while pulling the new stitch through the first stitch, drop both old stitches from left-hand needle (makes 1 st from 2 sts).
Pm = place marker
Sm = slip marker
YO = yarn over

Slipped stitches and some purls define the vertical panels which feature the lace work and other textured motifs.

The rich texture of this design and of the yarn itself, will warm the neck and shoulders of the lucky person who gets to wear it.

I hope you try this stole or at least, try the knit-through decrease or Angora Lace yarn. I’m off to have some Neapolitan Ice Cream before the weather gets any cooler.

This is part 5 of 5 in this series.
Go back to part 4: Knitting a lace stole using the knit-through decrease instead
