The New Mercedes-Benz CLS Has Been Spotted

Saying goodbye to the current generation of CLS, Mercedes-Benz started to test the successor of the Model (Mercedes-Benz CLS), which is in fact, has become the trendsetter of the four-door coupe in its present form.

Initially, it was rumored that Mercedes would completely give up on CLS in favor of CLE: it really would make sense, as having changed the platform to the E-Class; the coupe has a lot more in common E-class than with the S-Class. However, according to Carscoops reporters, the management of the company still intends to keep the “CLS” label because of its recognition and as a tribute to the model, which created the four-door coupé trend.

Despite the fact that the new model will be based on the current E-Class (W213) platform, it is expected that the CLS will be longer and wider. Most likely, there won’t be any surprise regarding the engines – the CLS engine line will certainly share its sibling’s higher-end powerpoints. After entering the market, the range of engines of the main part of the family will include hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.

As far as these images, unfortunately, the testing car is wearing a full camouflage, and to judge about its stylistic differences from its predecessor is too early. All that can be assumed with certainty is the fact that the new CLS will be even more luxurious, and will carry all the latest features on the part of Mercedes safety systems and driver assistance systems on its board.

After Mercedes will show the world its new CLS – the original debut is associated with the end of this year or the beginning of 2018. The new CLS will have to compete with its major competitor – the new Audi A7, which is expected to debut this year.
