Porsche is going to expand the range of Cayman coupe versions, which will be called GT4 RS. According to an Auto Express report, citing an insider source at Porsche this modification of the Porsche coupe will be completed with 4.0-litre engine.
Reporters noted that Porsche is ready to take this step as of the high demand for the Cayman GT4. It is expected that the RS-modification of the model will be presented within the next year.
In addition to this, Porsche is going to present two track modification of the coupe version of the 911 in 2017. The updated version of the GT3 will debut in the spring of this year at the Geneva Motor Show. This option will receive a 4.0-litre engine with 500 horsepower.
As Autocar points out, Porsche 911 GT3 will be available for the first time with a choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission.
There are also rumors that the GT2 version of the 911 is supposed to debut by the end of the year. It’s going to be a tweaked version of the current 911 Turbo S powertrain; Porsche has apparently tested this unit up to 521kW. Porsche engineers were looking for a massive power gain, even compared with the 612bhp of the original 2010 GT2 RS, but a plan to realize a 700bhp was sidelined when it became clear the engine would need a water injection system to keep internal temperatures under control.
The GT4-version of Porsche Cayman is equipped with a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine, and the output is 385 horsepower. The coupe accelerates from zero to hundred kilometers in 4.4 seconds and its top speed is 295 kilometers per hour. Already undergoing testing around the Nurburgring, the onset of winter has precluded Porsche’s development drivers setting a lap time around the benchmark circuit. However, Porsche’s internal calculations predict a 7 minute 5 second time.
Porsche Cayman is available now in two four-cylinder engines with 300 and 350 horsepower.
