Mercedes-AMG To Release A New Racing Version Of The GT – GT4

German luxury carmaker Daimler announced about working on a new Sports Car, which will be known as Mercedes-AMG GT4. One more member of the growing family of GT will be based on the GT R debuted at the beginning of this year, and its main purpose will be amateur or professional Racing.

According to several published designs, the racing car received a unique rear spoiler, a new hood with large air intakes, new bumpers, a grille with vertical slats and other prominent new aerodynamic additions up front.

Mercedes-AMG claims, “As with any Mercedes-AMG product, our newest “top athlete” will be designed with the highest level of safety and user-friendliness in mind during the development process.” However, the company, unfortunately, didn’t disclose any data about the engine of the GT4. The standard GT R uses a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8, which develops 585 hp and the weight is only 1554 kg. Most likely, both of these figures will be changed on the new sports car.

As the company believes, the new racing GT4 Mercedes-AMG will expand its line of variability, and GT4 will be a good addition to GT3 model, based on a normal Mercedes-AMG GT.

“The development of the Mercedes-AMG GT4 is another important step in the continuing expansion of our Mercedes-AMG motorsport program,” Mercedes-AMG Chairman Tobias Moers said. “The excellent feedback of our Customer Sports teams concerning the AMG GT3 and the increasing interest for GT4 racecars strengthened us in our decision. We are delighted to address an even larger target group of amateur and professional drivers and teams in the future with it.”
