Creating Memorial Jewellery

Memorial Jewellery...

Over the years, we’ve been asked to make many pieces using prints from loved ones that are no longer with us. These prints may have been taken by a hospital before or after death, or occasionally the family have prints that were taken years ago.

Appreciating that these prints are extremely precious to families, we have created a process in which we can work from either a scanned copy or photograph of the prints, meaning that the family don’t have to part with the original copy.

While there can quite often be tragic stories behind the memorial jewellery we create, we’re often told that there is something about our jewellery that brings comfort during the hardest times that anyone can ever go through. Perhaps it’s the tangible feel of a fingerprint, or the glance down at a tiny silver handprint that reminds us that our loved ones will always be with us in one way or another.

Working with Funeral Homes...

Following on from a number of referrals through word of mouth, over the last year we have been contacted by a number of funeral homes who would like to offer Fingerprint and Handprint Memorial Jewellery as a service to their clients. We’re very privileged to have worked with some excellent experienced undertakers to develop a special print taking process which provides the very best result for Fingerprint Jewellery under such circumstances. The prints are taken in the funeral home using a special fingerprinting ink stip for the family to keep.

We have also produced a brochure detailing our Memorial Fingerprint Jewellery and all the beautiful silver designs available. Any families wishing to create jewellery can easily do so using the prints provided.

Four customers explain why Hand on Heart means the world to them...

I have been looking for a company to create something I can keep with me everyday which incorporates my dads fingerprint who sadly passed away. I searched the internet to find this company, Hand on Heart Jewellery. I was unsure whether the company could use ink fingerprints but they were so helpful and with checking the prints they confirmed that they could use them. I chose the round fingerprint bracelet which was what I was looking for and they created this stunning piece of jewellery for me. I was hoping it would be good but I was amazed how Nicola at Hand on Heart Jewellery captured the image so beautifully and perfectly, I could not be happier with it. I lost my dad just over a year ago and miss him so much, but now, thanks to Hand on Heart Jewellery and Nicola I can keep a little bit more of my dad with me everyday. Thank you so much it is absolutely perfect.”

“When Dad passed away, I saw an advert for Hand on Heart Jewellery and ordered a print kit immediately. They sent it straight to the funeral home who took hand and fingerprints for me and sent them directly back to Hand on Heart Jewellery. I had the idea to put a bit of writing from one of my Mum’s notes she let for me before she died but have only just felt ready to sort it out. The company have been absolutely fantastic - top service, really personal and empathetic, super quick turnaround and amazing quality. I’m so made up - thank you Hand on Heart Jewellery.”

“I just want to say a massive thank you to the team at Hand on Heart jewellery for my fingerprint charm. When my Grandma was diagnosed with inoperable cancer in October last year, I struggled to get my head around the fact that we were losing her. I've been lucky enough to have something made meaning that I'll always have a piece of my Grandma with me. The design team were amazing from start to finish - unfortunately, the fingerprints that I got weren't the best but the design team remade the charm twice to ensure that I had a beautiful piece of jewellery. I can't tell you how much this means to me, I'll treasure it forever. Thank you. Xxx”

“Thank you so much for my beautiful ring. It's extra special as it has been made from mine and my dads fingerprints. I managed to take his prints two days before he died just under 2 weeks ago. The communication and turnaround has been fantastic. Big thank you to Lauren who made it for me”

If you have prints, drawings or handwriting that you would like to create a keepsake with, please contact us and we will be very happy to advise on options and guide you through the process.
