HoH In Support of Kicks Count

If you follow Hand on Heart Jewellery on any of our social media platforms you may have seen us alongside Kicks Count. Kicks Count are a UK based charity, who aim to empower mums to be.

The charity was set up in 2009 after its founder Sophia Wyatt sadly lost her baby late in her pregnancy. The amount of movement she felt had reduced in the weeks leading up to her due date, but as she didn’t know the risks associated with reduced movement she didn’t think anything of it and didn’t seek a medical opinion.

Making people aware of these risks is exactly what Kicks Count aim to do. They want to reduce the amount of stillbirths by giving expectant mums the knowledge to know when something isn’t right and the encouragement to trust their instincts. They have designed an iPhone app and a bracelet that allows pregnant mothers to count their baby’s kicks throughout each day, helping them notice if anything is out of the ordinary.

While there isn’t one solution to reducing stillbirth, a decrease in foetal movement can be a key warning sign that the baby is struggling in the womb, and early delivery could save nearly a third of stillborn babies.

Now with a team of over 7 people, Kicks Count rely on fundraising and donations to continue the fantastic work they do. Hand on Heart donated prizes for Kicks Count supporters to win back in 2016, and this year as a celebration for reaching 100k fans on Facebook we donated £1000 to the charity.

We hear the lovely pregnancy stories from our customers here at Hand on Heart Jewellery, but we also hear the heartbreaking ones. We think Kicks Count is an amazing charity, aiming to make a real difference to so many people's lives and that’s why we have chosen to donate £5 for every Handprint or Footprint Heart Necklace purchased from us.

There are so many ways you can help Kicks Count carry on with the fantastic work they are doing. You can buy our stunning necklace, or visit www.kickscount.org.uk for fundraising ideas, or to buy one of the Kick Counting Bracelets.
