Who can resist a bake sale? Hand on Heart certainly can’t, that’s why the team have decided to bake for Comic Relief this year! Our bake sale took place today, and we all went home feeling very full. Not only did Hand on Heart get involved and donate as much as possible to this amazing cause, but so did the rest of Hackthorpe Hall Business Centre. We managed to tempt all of our neighbours who were incredibly generous.

If you didn’t know Comic Relief takes place every year with the iconic Red Nose Day, and a whole host of celebrities get involved in raising money to help as many people as possible in the UK and Africa.

The money raised goes towards 5 main causes:

Immunisation - Just £20 could fully vaccinate one child in Africa, and Comic Relief has vaccinated over 860,000 children since Red Nose Day 2016.

Mental health - 1 in every 4 people experience some form of mental health problem, and Comic Relief work to stamp out the stigma and raise awareness about who’s out there to help. £25 could help one of those people greatly by offering them counselling and a way to move forward.

Vulnerable young people - Helping people in the UK who may not have anywhere to call home or enough money to pay for a daily meal, to those living in extreme poverty in Africa, Comic Relief helps give them a place to stay and ensures they are kept safe and healthy.

Domestic violence - In the UK, the police receive over 100 calls relating to domestic violence every hour. Just £20 could pay for a night's accommodation for someone fleeing a violent relationship.

Fighting Malaria - There is so much awareness about the risks Malaria poses to a small child but still over 250,000 children under 5 years of age die from Malaria each year in Africa. Just £2.50 buys a mosquito net to protect a child from contracting the deadly virus.
