Tween Girl’s Room Re-do with Classic Black, White, and Gold

Something happens to girls between the ages of eight and twelve. If you’re not there, just wait for it. If you’ve been through it with your girls, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s a cute phase and one that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. My twins have turned their heads on their favorite toys and turned to Pinterest for creative inspiration. They look up slime recipes, ways to do their hair, and the reason we’re here today–room re-do ideas.

When brainstorming ways to make their space more unique to their “tweenhood,” we compromised on something classic that would still give them a cool vibe but also carry them throughout their teen years without having to harm any unicorns in the process.

If you’re looking for a little tween girl room re-do inspiration, here’s what we ended up with. (And P.S. the wallpaper job was almost the end to my marriage, but we thankfully got past that and lived happily every after.)

Tween Girl’s Room Re-do with Classic Black, White, and Gold

1. New LUUF Mattresses

First, the girls Mattresses desperately needed replaced. Did you know that most kid mattresses are made with harmful VOCs? It’s scary really, to think of what kids are sleeping on and breathing in night after night. I first learned about Luuf mattresses here and knew we had to have them for the girls.

LUUF is on a mission to make honest, safe, luxury sleep products affordable for every room in your house. In fact, their LUUF and Little LUUF lines can replace every single bed in your home for what it would cost to buy a single mattress in a mattress store.

Crazy!

Little Luuf Mattresses are safe, non-toxic, and made just for kids. Check them out and swap out your kids’ scary mattresses asap.

My girls have been sleeping on their mattresses for about six months now and have gotten the best sleep of their young lives thus far. LUUF mattresses are incredibly comfortable and the adult ones come with 3 firmness options: Plush Multi-Sleeper, Luxury Firm Multi-Sleeper, and Firm. I recommend the Luxury Firm for just the right balance of soft and support.

Get 25% off all LUUF mattresses(not including Foundation) with code HDS25.

You can also get $15 off all LUUF accessories (like premium pillows and sheets!) with code HDS15.

2. Black, white, and gold theme

While my girls probably would have been thrilled with pinks and purples, I talked them into a more classic color scheme of black and white with touches of gold. We found this black couch on Wayfair and it fits the room perfectly.

The girls were each dying for a canopy bed and we also found these on Wayfair and immediately fell in love. (I believe this bed is currently sold out, but there is a great variety of similar ones.)

3. Wallpaper

Wallpaper has come a long way since the 80s, but it can still be a beast to apply. We liked the geometry and gold detailing of this wallpaper. In complete honesty, wallpaper can be a beast and it definitely requires time and patience. Having this kit made it a lot easier.

Here’s a few quick pics of before:

So if you’re looking for some classic room ideas, this tween girl’s room redo in black, white, and gold was a fun one. Let me know if you have any questions!
