Round Robin Wrap-Up

Rose Marie and I are finished swapping our Round Robin quilts back and forth. It didn’t take us 20 years this time, but it HAS been four years since we started!

I could have sworn I posted about Round Two when we got done, but I can’t find any evidence of that, and here we are, close to the end.

Here’s where they were after Round One, which was the first round after the center blocks we first swapped.

Mine:

Rose Marie’s:

You can read more about Round One HERE, and also from that post, there’s a link to what started the entire thing, some photos of our center blocks, and the story of the first Round Robin we did together.

When Rose Marie got hers back, she added a round of appliqué. For mine, I fished through my box of orphan blocks, and pulled out anything I thought would work to make a round of little sampler blocks around my quilt, along with some more black-and-white scraps. For some reason, I didn’t take any photos of this round, and never posted about it.

But after Round Three, I remembered to take photos. Here’s what I added to Rose Marie’s after her appliqué border:

These blocks are from a Laundry Basket Quilts pattern called Shimmering Snow. The blocks were fun to make, and I may end up making more for an entire quilt for myself — someday.

Rose Marie kept my black theme going and added one final border to mine:

Now that we each have ours back, it’s up to us how we want to finish them. I think Rose Marie plans to add one more border to hers, but I like the wide black outer border on mine, so I’m calling it done.

I even have my backing and binding ready; I just need to get it quilted. And as usual, it’s anyone’s guess as to when that will ever happen!

So once again, I encourage you — if you want a fun challenge, get together with a quilty friend and do a Round Robin!
