Made in USA

My most recent finish! I made this quilt to donate to my guild so that it can be presented to a veteran on Veteran’s Day this year to recognize him for his service.

I thought it would be a good use of some of my pre-cut strips, and would also use up some of my blues so I could get the lid on the bin! And it was, but honestly, I could make several more (and I might make another one yet). The pattern is called Made in USA, and it’s by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts.

I managed to make the entire quilt out of my stash, and even found a couple pieces suitable for the backing and binding, so that was a plus. I love when the piles of stash get smaller around here!

I quilted it very simply. I squiggled lines in the flags, put a star in each field of blue, and quilted a word under each flag, such as: honor, service, liberty, etc. Along the bottom I quilted: Thank you for your service. The rest of the sashing is filled with stars and loops.

Here are the details . . .
