Silent Night

I’m wishing all of you a most wonderful, warm, happy, peaceful, and very Merry Christmas. I really appreciate that you take the time to visit my little corner of the world and read what I have to say.

Fifty-seven years ago today, my mother was in the hospital giving birth to my baby brother, Darin. I’m sure that made for a memorable Christmas for her and our family. I was only 3 years old, so I don’t remember it being that eventful!

Barely in time for Christmas this year, I am finally introducing this year’s Prairie Moon Ranch Cowboy Christmas Stocking: Silent Night.

I’ve been wanting to make a black stocking for some time, but I was conflicted as to whether it would seem dark and depressing, when I wanted it to be seen as more elegant and symbolic. One of my favorite Christmas hymns is “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear”, and that’s what I had in mind while making it.

“The world in solemn stillness lay . . .”

A crystal clear, silent night . . .

So I added some crystals!

The stocking features easy embroidery, only one piece to appliqué, and some hot-fix crystals. How (or even IF) you do the embroidery is up to you, the crystals are optional, the size can be reduced or enlarged, and the stocking can be flipped to point the other direction, if you wish (as with all the other stockings).

Silent Night is number 15 in the Prairie Moon Ranch Cowboy Christmas Stocking series. The pattern will be available in my Etsy shop by Monday, in PDF format only.

I hope you all have a wonderful, still, clear night, so you can hear the angels sing . . .

. . . and Merry Christmas to you ALL!
