No Sew Upholstered Chair Makeover

Since I’ve spent so much time at home, I’ve been able to cross some stuff off my never ending to-do list. This Chair has been on my list for years. We’ve had this chair for maybe 13 years and if you have teenagers, you might recognize it. This was the thinking chair from Blue’s Clues. Kadin loved Blue’s Clues and had a big book of stories that we would read over and over and over. The chair has definitely been used over the years and the wear and tear was showing. This no sew upholstered chair makeover was a great way to bring this old chair back to life. I’ve used this method to cover two other chairs in my house and they’ve held up great. What you need: heavy duty hot glue sticks, hot glue gun, fabric, chunky chenille yarn, scissors, upholstery foam This is the famous Blue’s Clues thinking chair and a piece of upholstery foam that I needed for this makeover. I started by placing a piece of fabric over a section of the chair to make sure the fabric fit. Then I used my hot glue gun and glued the fabric to the chair along the seams of the chair. I used the Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks because they are heavy duty, durable and super strong. When a section was covered, I would trim the extra fabric and move on to another section. The seat of this chair was completely flat. I pulled the seat fabric up and cut along the side. The foam that came with the chair was completely pressed down to the wood. I cut my foam to fit in the chair and placed it inside the couch cushion cover.  I ran out of the flower fabric, so I used some pink fabric for the arms of the chair. The padding on the arms were worn down, so I added foam before covering with new fabric. With the chair covered in new fabric, it was time to add the chenille yarn. I glued the yarn to the edges of the chair. Make sure you press the yarn into the glue so it’s secure. The yarn pulls the look of the chair together and really takes it to another level. I love how this no sew upholstered chair turned out, but I’m questioning the pink fabric on the armrests. Comment below and let me know what you think about these two fabrics together.
