Repurposed Art Fabric Transfer

I sell a lot of little plaque pictures at Sunrose Gallery here in Seaside, Oregon.  Most of them are priced below $20.00 and the best sellers have inspirational phrases.  “Be Brave”  has always been a good seller.

This little plaque is the lid to a cigar box and I covered the front with washi tape and did a little painting with some paint pens.  I have a big collection of magazine font letters that I love because they are FREE!

Recently I got inspired to think of ways to have my art do double duty.  This image was so bright and cheerful I figured it would work as a graphic on one of the black canvas bags I got at JoAnn Fabrics.

My package of Fabric Transfer sheets comes with 5 light fabric and 5 dark fabric.  If you are transfering on light colors, the directions say to reverse your image so the message will print correctly.

I forgot the dark colored fabric transfers don’t need to be flipped because you apply the transfer differently.  I reversed the image and when I got ready to apply the transfer the irony of my mistake made me laugh out loud.

NEVER GIVE UP….go back and print it correctly this time!

If you are a maker, for example a quilter, it would be fun to take a nice photo of the quilt before you sell it or give it away.  Then you can use that image as a fabric transfer for a canvas bag or a greeting card.  Canvas bags make great Christmas presents!  Just saying! LOL

Anyway, it is very rewarding to get “mileage” out of an original craft.

Since it only takes a few minutes to turn a photo into a free printable I am offering this image for you to printout:
