I am sure as parents, we are confused about what art material to buy online for Children. There are so many options available.

And then we think, are these art supplies right for my child? Will this make the art look beautiful? Can I preserve this?

So here are some art materials I have bought online and used while teaching my daughter and other kids.

Working with Artist’ quality paints seems better than student’s quality Paint. They have more pigment and look better.

There is no hard and fast rule as to what painting medium should be introduced to a child first and when.

Children usually start with wax crayons and markers, then move to oil pastels and pencil colors. Acrylics and poster colors come next and then move to more mature techniques in Watercolor and pencil shading. Oil painting can be started at a later stage.

You need a good quality paper as well as a strong one, which holds paints.

Children love colors and use a lot of it without any apprehension.

Each medium calls for a different type of paper.

I have tried many.

I have bought drawing books, rolls of paper and lose sheets.

When children are small, rolls of paperwork work really economically. Cut the paper into sizes they prefer and they will fill up the same.

As they grow older, move to drawing books.

When children start using watercolor or acrylic, better to use watercolor sheets. They do not end up spoiling the sheets of the rest of the book.

Canvas

Children feel very proud to paint on canvases.

The textured look of the canvas is unique.

Wax Crayons and Oil pastels

It is easy to hold, the colors are bright and they fill up space on paper with little effort.

Oil pastels give a more mature look to a picture. You can merge and shaded and create a 2D effect with paint.

Pens and Markers

Now the brightest among all mediums are markers.

Why are markers so popular? The kids first pick up markers when they are given a choice.

Acrylic markers are easily used over acrylic paint.

I have seen children spend hours mixing and creating colors and applying them on paper.

Acrylic paints are opaque. They are bright. They dry fast.

Children find it easier to control these paints.

Pencils

Many children love to sketch and shade with pencils.

Pencils should be soft so that they merge well and create depth.

It’s easy to carry too. When I used to go to a restaurant or someplace where it would take time, I used to give my daughter some colored pencils and a drawing book.

Doodling and coloring books also helps to enjoy oneself.

For children, we need to have fun.

And finding new ways and tools to paint is very important.

Stencils, stamps, knives, plastic wraps, sponges, and knives are some ways to bring texture to paintings.

And they are easy to use.
