When the weather is nice, not too hot not too cold and you are travelling home or away from home what could be the best reason to stop? Yes, a Geocache. Just to get more smileys on your map, add more finds, get more days with finds or any reason. There are so many geocaches around this planet that it is close to impossible to find all of them. When you start geocaching you first go for the excitement of finding a treasure, and then over time that excitement is turning over to some different motivation and it can be different by any individuals, some migth even stop or stop temporarily.
One thing is for sure, there are always new ones to find and there must be easier and harder hides. This we found on the way home after a one night vacation in Belgium and of course many other geocaches.
One of the things you learn fast while geocaching is how to identify atrificial combination of stones, woods, stick or any object that mother nature would not place there like that.

Along the roads there are always stones, rocks but when there is a geocache it is the first to check it could be hiding under or in it. Make sure you turn all of them.
At my area of hiding geocaches I could also make similar hides, the only problem is that I cannot always carry tools with me to dig small holes, and if I do I do not have the time to find good places to place the hides at.

This time of the year you can see all different mushrooms all over the places, on this day I took pictures of many different ones at the locations where we found the geocaches. It was really interesting to see how many you might find.

When we do a detour to pick a geocache it is rare that we just go off the main road pick the geocache and turn around, most of the time if we have the time we keep on going for a while on the road just to see what is there. So many nice places to see, most of the times main roads are boring, not much to discover there. I remember when I moved to the Netherlands a local friend of mine told me: "If you want to see the Netherlands, you need to get off the highways..." and he was so right, there is a completely different Netherlands off the main roads.
Did you realize that in the Netherlands they cut the grass along the roads only like a meter wide area? Would you guess why are they doing it so? After I figured it out it makes a lots of sense... They want to keep as much green areas untouched as possible so as many bugs can find home in there as possible, the more bugs there are the more animals find their food, and the whole foodchain is more healthy. A smart idea, and also good for the geocachers around here; when a geocache is hidden out of the cut grass area you will find the footpath heading to the geocache really fast. So many geocachers in the area that it is impossible to avoid footpathes.
