Geocache: Safety rail

Another typical hiding location is the Safety rails along the roads, streets, highways, parking-lots, etc. Mostly the container is held in place by magnet(s), just like this find.

A magnetic container on the safety rail.
Most of these are for the statistics, but I met one in Germany which was a really nice big container along the autobahn. This one I found in Detroit around the airport area, as I had nine hours between the two flights.

The road with the safety rail.
Let's talk about the safety rail for a minute. Did you think about why are they used? Who needs the safety? In most cases they protect cars from entering areas where it would be dangerous, in other cases they separate traffic going different direction to avoid cars trying to pass each others. Then there are some which is placed there to protect pedestrians from vehicles. What else? Any idea, add them in the comments.

The container on my tablet.
When I first started to make pictures of the geocaches I found I did not even think of the pictures as such a value to other geocachers, especially for beginners or geocachers starting to hide geocaches around the planet. Since I started this blog, I started to look at the containers with different eyes, I always look at the effort put into the containers, how much time it could take to prepare one like that, etc. This one was interesting as it doesn't have a twist cap as I would expect, but a push on two sides and pops open on the top kind of. Never met a container like this before, if anyone know what is this originally please share with me.

A creek next to the geocache
When hiding in urban areas or residential areas it is always the question of what to see around the geocache? Someone's front or back yard? A statue, a pile of garbage? To be honest it is not always easy to find anything worth showing, and if there is a creek like here it can be a reason, but that brings up  another topic, maybe it is a good place to organize a CITO event regularly to keep it clean and nice.

Another angle on the creek.
Not much water in right now, but it is summer, I guess there is a lot more when it is a more rainy period in the year.

One more different view.
I was on foot when I found this geocache and I had to realize a few things while walking around. First in different part of the USA people see walking humans differently. While in California almost every fifth car would slow down and ask if I need a ride, here in Michigan I had to watch my steps as most pulled closer some even horned at me like I was not really welcomed there to walk. The second is that I should have a hat, my skin is really sensitive to the sun, especially around noon it is really burning me, this day in Detroit the sun was really bright I finished all my water I had with me.

Many thanks for the CO for this hide.
