Geocache: Guarded by ants

Some low difficulty geocaches still can be challenging. My daughter needed something from the closeby outlet center, it was a sunny day and also a public holiday so what could go wrong? We drove to the outlet which was close to full and I mean it, seriously full. We got what she needed and then I picked this Geocache to find on the way home. The difficulty level was low so I planned a park and grab.

We arrived to the location and the park part was not a problem at all. There was this big old Tree... must be the hiding place. I started to dig in then stepped away and I had lots of Ants all over my arms... so started to feed on me or at least bite me.

The geocache hiding in a hole.

Usually this is the point when I dig more into the logs for further hints. One log suggested it could be a bit higher stating not all might reach easily. I geared up with a flashlight and tried to climb the tree. My daughter on the ground laughing, then worrying, then taking a few pics sending them to my wife. I'm up in the tree and I look all the way up asking myself how can it be less than 3 if I need to climb up?

The container.

Ok, I reached the highest I could and nothing and cannot see anything as far as I was looking up. Now what? Looking back down I had to realize it is harder to climb down than up on this tree. Not to mention the ants biting my legs already. I must go down, no panic, just be cool and calm. As I got one step down I see some white thing in the hole closest to the ground, but invisible from the side I am.

As ants were biting worse I just jumped off the tree, cleaned the ants off me. Ouch a bite on my neck, ok fixed. Now get the geocache, as I knew where it was all I had to do reach in to the hole and get it. Yeah, easier said than done. Remember the ants I mentioned above? They lived next to the grocache. Finally I got the container and another twenty ants or more.

A bridge over the highway, next to the geocache.

I quickly signed the log, prepared the fotos for my blog and on the way home. While shooting the pictures I was thinking, why the ants in the tree why not on the bridge? Did the CO see the ants when hiding and asked them to guard it? Was it intentional? Or it just happened so?

The tree, the land of the ants.

It was a fun drive, itching here and there and scratching here and there all the way home. These memories make this game such fun. As soon as we were on the road again my daughter was relaxed no more worry that I get injured.

See the view?

Why couldn't my ant friends pick another place to live? Maybe the moved to the big tree to meet me? Anyways just for the records no ants were injured during this geocache logging, and no I also had only tiny bite marks.

Thanks for this easy to find geocache ...
